No the prices are prices before taxes, so Diplomat pricing is a discount not a tax break. My dealer told me if you are a gov't Diplomat you get the discount. Not sure if it was BS or not.

I believe with the prices in Canada vs the US after exchange there should be room for negotiation. But I guess if Canadians are not that aware they are being over charged in Canada by Car companies they will continue to pay what is asked.

yes the cdn price is higher than u.s. but canada is still getting a great deal compare to the rest of the world. the diplomat pricing is only for gov diplomat, so unless u are a diplomat from china or sth, it's not going be the price u pay.

I have been looking to move from an 04 M3 coupe to an SUV and was toying around with the MB ML320 CDI or GL450, at least prior to the new X5 showing up.

Now, assuming that they stick to these prices, for me to option out a vehicle the way I would like (Technology, Sport, Activity, Dynamic Handling, Rear Climate, HiFi Sound, 20" Rims) would result in a total list price on a 4.8i of $89,800. That is getting a bit high, considering that a new ML63 is listed at $96,000 CDN, which is pretty much loaded.

In the end, I think the X5 is the better of the two choices (ML63 vs. X5) for me as an everyday driver given the amount of snow here, but it will certainly amaze me if that is how much the vehicle will sticker for as optioned.
