Given that the difference you note is only 0.2 mph, I'd still conclude the Jeep is also a great handling machine. Having said that, I still prefer my X, but the point is yes, the Jeep is good in a straight line, but handling is also a virtue not to be dismissed. .2 mph is so close that those numbers could easily have been reversed given a different day, track, driver, weather, etc...

I was able to take the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 out on the autobann and not only was it fast and a beast, but handling and stability was much better than I expected:thumbup:. However the rear seat was cramped, cargo capacity was less than mediocre, it is a total gas guzzler, and I felt every bump in the road, so I decided that I would rather spend an extra $25k on the E70 4.8i for sure.

i never said that the srt8 wasn't a great handling machine, just that the 4.8is handled better. i've seen slalom times for the 4.8is that were worse than the srt8, but called me biased, all that means to me is that the driver wasn't pushing the 4.8is to it's potential.

For all of you looking at the ML63, you should read the review of the E63 and CLS63. The new motor is not the torque monster the old 55 motor was!

The comparisons between the M5 and E63 have been quite telling. . . Of course, we'll never get the M5 V10 in the X5 (not enough low end torque).

Given the base price of the e70 4.8i is about 4-5% over the e53 4.4i, do you think the price of the new 4.8si will be around $75,000? But then a fully spec 4.8i can run up to $85,000, it doesn't make sense that a 4.8si will be cheaper than a fully spec 4.8i, any view?

75k is not even close to wut the 4.8is will come in, usually the top end car is 5k higher then the lower version fully loaded, so my guess is 85k-90k won't be far off

According to the bmwusa website, the base price for a e53 4.4i is $53,600 and 4.8is is $71,100. This is why I was thinking that the 4.8si may be a couple grand more than the current one. Anyway, isn't the current 4.8is fully optioned with the base price?
