Nav Screen

I thought I was seeing things when I compared the nav/idrive screen in the brochure & BMWUSA's site with the actual E70's that I looked at last week at my local dealer.

The nav/idrive screen in the new e70 brochure & on BMW's site shows a screen that looks identical to the 750i's screen....very wide. The actual screen that they are shipping with new e70's is about the same size as the current E53's screen. (Narrow)

Just 1 more reason to wait a while, to get what is advertised

Thats assuming you don't get Sat Nav. Theres a link in the E70 forum showing the Sat Nav screen in use, which is wider.

PeteM is right.

All iDrive cars without nav have skinny screens - in the U.S. Take a look at a 5, 6 or 7 without nav (impossible on the 7 in the u.s. market as all 7's have nav standard)...

Technically we get BMW professional navigation here in the u.s - hence the large screen. In other markets you can get nav on a small screen and thats called BMW business nav which has reduced functionality - an option we don't have in the states.

So bottom line... If you get nav on an E70 in the U.S. market you get the big 8" screen. If you don't you get the 5.5" screen shown here.

Went to dealer today and was just going to post my impression that the screen in the black demo 4.8i looked cheap and then these posts appear to address the issue. Glad I ordered nav.

All 6-series have Nav standard, too.
