Tracking
Can you track your vehicle with a VIN that's in production right now.
Supposely at bmw owners circle, but I never was successful.
You going back to the Escalade Denalio? I may take another look at it also with these ridiculous lease rates.
I am thinking about it. Going to bring one home tonight.
as above poster said, you can track it in the owners circle on bmw's website. I think you'll need your production number which you should have if you already have the VIN. I tracked my e92 from beginning to end, but you'll soon realize that the website is no where close to real time.

will give you more up-to-date and grainular information than the website. For whatever reason the website still seems to be often out of sync. I've fustratingly been stuck in production complete and waiting to be released to carrier for a week. It seems like this is taking as long as getting my m3 from Germany. |
By the time you start to track it,it will be built,it's not quite the same as European cars, once you know the day it's being built,it'ds done and loaded on a truck to the dealer.
Hey MichX5, did you decide which vehicle yet?
Just got a word from my dealer saying all of the x5 production is being held at the factory...is there a way to confirm this?
Yeap.
I'm totally screwed too. I entered into status 155 (production finished / QA check) on 12/2 but apparently there is some quality problem that has caused them to halt all shipments. There must be a production problem which scares the hell out of me. I'm guessing I will bail out and get a Cayenne or RR sport instead. Waiting and waiting with no communcation from BMW sucks and I don't want a beta product. |
Haven't heard from my dealer yet. If he comes back with ridiculous rates, I will do my best to deal and then walk as I predict many will in the first week.
My X5 came in last Friday. I hope whatever quality issue it is doesn't affect my vehicle. My X5 was scheduled for week 49 build but was completed early. I tracked it as best I could but the day it arrived the website had it at VPC and the 800# had it leaving on transport.

Was it a 4.8? My dealer indicated it seems to only be 4.8 production that halted. I was week 49.
It was a 4.8. Production began prior to week 49 but it was in 150 status for several weeks but then went through production very quickly and a week later was at the dealer. Any ideas about what is causing your production delay?
Was told that production was sheduled to be finished on 12/3 and it was scheduled to be loaded on a train 12/5
Production status went to complete waiting to be released to the carrier on 12/1. Now: Website says "scheduled for production" Automated says "waiting to be released to carrier" BMW's customer reps: Rep 1 Friday - I'm sorry, that is very strange- the production is complete and that it missed the scheduled ship date. Don't know why it would have a delay being released to carrier. Rep 2 Monday - Well it now shows production is scheduled for 12/21. No I can't explain why it says that production is complete on the phone. We don't have access to that system here Rep 3 Monday - Production is complete however there is an issue that is keeping your vehicle in the Quality check stage and preventing it from being released to a carrier. Sorry you were promised a dec delivery we don't commit to build or shipping dates. No I can't tell you an more details about what the issue might be Dealer 1 Monday - BMW will not give us any information either but all of our 4.8 shipments are frozen in production. We have confirmed this is an issue with other dealers. Also mentioned great little tidbit - their 4.8 demo has rear manual window shades however they were notified they had to remove that option from all e70s until a future date TBD. (How bad is BMW at communicating) Dealer 2 Monday - Yes we also had 4.8s scheduled to finish production in the last 2 weeks and they have not been released from the factory. No BMW will not give us any details. |
Sounds like your vehicle is done but in limbo...I assume it'll take a few days to rail your X5 to the west coast once released. I hope your X5 gets to you before Xmas. That'd be a great gift!!! I'll have to check my rear doors to confirm that the manual window blinds were deleted. The brochure had a sticker placed in it communicating the change...very high tech:rofl: and yes an example of poor communication. I wanted to get the vehicle before they deleted any other features/options.

:dunno: I remember a few months ago when the 335i coupes first came out, they were delaying shipments to dealers b/c of some weird emmissions issues. Not saying that this is the same issue, but I think it happened at the same point in time that you are in for delivery.
I guess it's a decision time. If you can't get the delivery before year, you can't claim the section 179. That was the whole purpose to get this car :-)....Hopefully something exciting will happen within next couple of days and ball is rolling....
Can you not take a "paper delivery"?
If you want to you can take the delivery in Feb. or in March but you will be making the payments starting January and you won't have the car in your hand.....You can take paper delivery now but what about the payments!!!!
See what it hurt most it that I had to give up a sport pckg and a runner boards for this car because there wasn't one available with the color I wanted (Space Gray)....Finally dealer got a hold off a car that was in production with the same color so I thought if I can have the car before end of the year, I can give up those items...But now If I have to wait until Jan or Feb, I should get all the options with the color I like!!!
But then what about section 179!!! I won't be able to claim if I don't have any car...Right now therer's nothing out there that I like...I guess Life is a B**ch :-) |
Well if I don't decide to get mine Chor you could call my dealer. It's Space Gray/Tobacoo 3.0 :) Should be in this week or next.
Mich,
Thanks for the reply and offer but mine is 4.8. BTW...According to 800 number, My car is already built waiting for carrier to be picked up..This is according to the automated message then I ask the live operator and they told me the same thing.....According to live operator, they said my car was suppose to be built this week but they built it earlier....So let's hope they can get this going soon.... |
