Mysterious wheel styles?
I would like to find out more about a wheelstyle of which I've heard no information so far. Nobody seems to know about them. It is the same wheelstyle LeMans X5 uses under his messages. I was wondering when they are available, and if, when they come to Europe.

Looks like style 211 19"

See the wheel database. I think you are looking for Style 168's. http://www.xoutpost.com/html.php?file=wheels.htm

And, here is another pic of that wheel and some wheel & tire
data... http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/showpic.php?nr=168 Baureihe X5 E53 Modell 4,8is Größe 9,5x20 10,5x20 Einsatz vorne hinten Bereifung 275/40R20 315/35R20 ET 45 30kg 12,46 14,33 |

My initial conclusion was that it was a photoshop effort. However the photo below would suggest they do exist... LeMansX5 - can you shed some light on this please? The style 128 alloys (also available in chrome) are 21" and apparantly the same as the wheel used on the 7 series. I always assumed that the X5 would require a stronger alloy, but if it is now possible to interchange SAV and car wheels then perhaps the M5 alloy is being used. IMO the E70 looks daft on anything smaller than 20" and the dynamic pack should be spec'd with 20" wheels and not 19". Where's the pics of the M sport version???? http://www.xoutpost.com/members/leman...-backcover.jpg |
The 4.8is OEM wheel shown above is 20" x 9.5" in front and 20 x 10.5" in rear. There are replicas made in 20" and smaller sizes and in other finishes.
There is a similar-looking M5 wheel that has more spokes and comes in 19", that is Style 166 shown below. http://www.xoutpost.com/wheels/wheel/bmw_wheel_166.jpg |
does it come with those brakes? : )
|
Comparing the pics it would appear that there is another style of alloy out there. The spokes are completely different in the rear 3/4 view of the X5 in the photo above. Somebody must know...

Wonder if that wheel will come as part of the "M" package for the new e70?

I think they look like style 141, only a lot bigger!

Larsdutch,
I've been thinking about it for the last month, what style could it be, Its def. not 4.8is style 20's, and it def looks more style 141 over E60 M5 wheels. Mazda 6 have a Mazda 6 sports here in Australia, it is a 17inch wheel - this is probably the closest style i can think - i'd believe it was a 21inch wheel thats in the photo, keep in mind official aero kit photos/marketing for BMW has the 7 series 21 inch wheels, but for the pic used in LeMans' sig, it could?? possibly be photoshoped. Once again, wheels in motion usually show their true pattern, and ie think Mazda 6 sports' 17 inch with a touch of style 141, as you've just mentioned |
does anyone know if any of the discussed wheels could be used with all season tires? I dont like how the 19's look (want 20 or bigger) but i live in nyc and have no room for winter/snow tires and have been told by many friends that "performance" tires on their bmws have been fairly slippery in wet/snowy weather. also since i wont have a spare i guess i need runflats, are these all compatible there?

After flicking through my latest copy of EVO magazine (issue 100) there is an article on the 335d coupe. The 335 diesel coupe wheels are 17" style 188 and would appear to be what are shown on the X5 below, albeit in 21" size. Can anyone please confirm this?
