I have no idea. I have an X5 on order. I ordered the factory DVD. I am thinking of getting the Invision DVD instead. The Invision system looks nice but I have the comfort seats and would like to keep the little pillow on the factory headrests. My understanding is the the Invision headrest system is a larger headrest and it does not have the articulating head/neck cusion. The other concern is I have perforated seats and the Invsion system does not have factory match perforated. I am not sure if the factory headrests are perferated as well to match the seats?

I hate the way the factory DVD screen lays over the armrest and you have to raise the screen to get into it. I also don't like the fact that, for me anyway, the third row can't see it one bit.

I'm pretty sure the DVDs load into the console beneath the actual player so that it can be accessed by the midrow passengers. I have not seen the player on in my X5 as I have yet to pick it up "officially". I will get it next week when I turn in my lease car as I have to transfer my present specialty plate to the X5. I did sit in the back and played with the fold/unfold and turn maneuver of the screen. I've just been wondering whether there's more or less of a possibility of motion sickness with the player down lower like that. Our Sienna has the screen up high and has been fine except that the screen has to be constantly readjusted after every moderate bump in the road. The X5 monitor seems more rigid and will hopefully hold it's position better.

Thanks for the info. Congrats on the new X5. If you could let me know what you think of the Factory DVD when you get the X5 and have a chance to play around with it. Although I am sure watching a DVD is not high on your list to do's when you drive away.

The other point made by my salesperson was that he thought there was a DVD changer (?# of DVDs) down there. I cannot confirm this as of yet but will look into it. If that is true, I would see that as an added bonus!

There's no DVD changer, only the CD changer and it's located inside the glove box wall, you'll still have the same glove box space as if you don't have to CD changer in it.
6 disc CD Changer with MP3 capabilities: http://www.bmwusa.com/LeadGenBYO/Ima...X5_48i_ZPS.jpg The DVD player/insert is located right under the CD slot on the center console (See picture below, inbetween the FM/AM and the DTC button). http://www.roadfly.com/gallery2/d/28...bmw-x5-076.jpg http://www.roadfly.com/gallery2/d/28...bmw-x5-077.jpg |
So can you use the DVD player at the same time as using the DVD based Nav?

On page 54/55 in the brochure it states that the rear seat entertainment system features the 8-inch color screen, SIX-CD/DVD MULTIMEDIA CHANGER, a pair of headphones, etc. That's where the rear changer statement comes from.

Thanks EJCx5 !! I guess the slot up front where the main radio controls are is for the Nav CD.

You can see in this video that there is a DVD player in the back center console below the DVD screen sitting on top of the arm rest. It is for use by the back seat passengers.

You cannot watch a DVD in the in Front. If you want to watch a DVD, you need to order the Rear DVD System(about $2k)
The player is located in the back and in the central consol (Almost on the Floor). |

Law,
Thanks for the correction. What about that little pillow on the factory headrest and the contours? Can you post a pic of the actual headrest? I am sure we would all like to see the exact headrest for this vehicle, both front and rear of the headrest. I look forward to the pics. Cheers. |
