Maintenance Program

Anyone who has picked up their new E70 bought a ext. Maint Program....How much did it cost and do you think it's worth it? I tried
to search on the forum to see how much 50, 65 and 100K service cost but didn't have any luck....My dealer is asking $1895

Also, how do you make your Fog lamps to Xenon...Hate Yellow light

Any info is appreciated.....

You could try brightheadlights.com. They sell HID conversion kits. You will have to add new ballasts and ignitors. I am not sure that HID fogs would not defeat the purpose of the fogs. Yellow cast works better for visibility in fog, but if its asthetics your concerned about I am sure it can be done with the proper setup. Voltage is usually different for fogs so make sure that you get the right kit and I would also make sure that the lense cover can withstand the heat and not melt. You will also need to know what kelvin temp you want. CATZ is a good brand I have them in my Denali.

Let us know if you find anything else.:)

Chor,
Congrats on your new E70, but you don't need to be in a rush
to cop the Extended Maintenance: you have 5 yrs/50K miles,
(whichever comes first), to see:
-do you like the car
-are you really gonna keep it past 50/50
-etc.

Ask the Board and, yourself, that question in
4+ yrs or 45K miles. There is zero reason to
buy it now, other than putting big bucks & more
profit margin in your Stlr's hands, imo.

Can you buy ext. maint at the 4th year or at 45k? I thought you have to buy that pkg when you sing up your paper work...I could be wrong on this....but your point does make sense if you can purchase the maint. later on....

Chor, unless BMWMutha has changed the rules,
Extended Warranty and Extended Maintenance
both qualify for purchase before the current/existing
warr/maint agreement expires per the 5yr/50Kmiles
oem coverage ends.

When Ext Maint. first came out, the fine print said
the orig Maint coverage had to be in effect with
"30 days remaining"...that was a non-issue when
I got mine.

With best info available, neither has to be puchased
when you take delivery. It's akin to buying a CC or
Best Buy ext warr. on some prod., when you buy the
new A/V stuff that has a 2 year warr, the same day...
it's a nice gross margin item for the Stlr. But, one can
buy that warr later and also from someone else.

Now, BMW could can that program between now
and then, but who knows...tell your car sales punque
to kiss off.

Edit: I searched the BMW NA site, aka the "Marketing driven
Vagueness Center", lol and they pitch both extending
the Warr and the Maint program at the time of purchase;
what a surprise. I still believe they are currently available
for any BMW with current exisitng oem Warr and Maint intact,
as of my typing...all that could be defunct 4 years from now.
I'd pass and wait. And, any Stlr can/will sell this to you;
you don't have to buy it from selling dlr. Shop around.

Thanks for the info...At least now I can tell them, I will hold off to the Maint. and Warranty until I shop around...Once Again Thanks for the info.
