I looked at one tonight!

Where is the spare tire I asked?
None! Run flat tires instead!:angryfire

What's the big deal about having run flat tires? Many manufacturers are going this direction, get used to it.

If you say so, but I searched all of tire racks data base for a 2007 4.8 with sport package and only came up with one tire choice. I am not getting use to it. Especially the price! On the bright side I hear you can get a real spare tire if you drop the little rear seat.

Well...it isn't a "real" spare tire...only a donut :(

xnsf 01-09-2007 02:17 AM

so it's one of those temporary ones? that looks like an inflated balloon?

mazinkaizer 01-09-2007 06:04 AM

Yup, a donut that is.

RFTs are here and will be ubiquitous by the end of the decade...
get used to them.

As for tire choices, the E70 is a first yr model with those tires;
in a yearish or two, there will be options, brand and size, imo.

It happens, as the tire mfg'ers gear up for a niche; my old '02
Vette and its brethren "had" a couple of choices back in the early
model run. Now, there are 7 or 8 mfg'ers pumping out RFTs in
both C5 and C6 tire sizes.

For some cars, it was a decision for space and weight. For others
it is a move to keep the vehicle operation "hands free" and dumbed
down for Biff & Buffy in their errand running around the upper class
'burbs; for other reasons, it's pressure from our fine gov't geniuses...

How do you know? Is this fact or your thoughts?

Fact. Several cars these days are coming with RFT. Audi, Toyotas, MINI Cooper S, Corvette, Lexus, Cadillacs, I can keep listing. Read more here
