Third row usefulness.
For those of you that have the third row how useful do you find it? How old/large are the kids that have sat there? Would you recommend the option? Thanks.

I dont have a E70 but I took one for a test drive I sat in the third row just to see how bad it was and it isnt that small I'm 5'11 210 and it wasnt very uncomfortible but it was only for a few minutes while the car was parked. Now I am a avid weightlifter and I have a very wide back so I did take up about a seat and a half but it should be ok for children or small adults under 5'7

3rd Row
DR J - I have the e70 with a third row and it's ok up to about a 5'5" person. You have the option to slide the 2nd row seating to get more leg room in the 3rd row with out making it unbearable for the 2nd row. My kids Love it, 6years old.
Listen - you dont purchase the third row on any vehicle in this class with the expectation of lots of room in the third row. All vehicles in this class have limited third row. At least these seats fold flat where as other vehicles you actually need to remove them. If you want a roomier back seat, get a suburban and sacfrice all of the performance on this vehicle. Also the 2nd row seating accomodates 3 adults no problem. |
Do the second and third row seats recline as well?

checked it out at the car show, I thought the 3rd seat was a COMPLETE waste of resources. IMO or course. I feel the same way about the back seat in a 996.

I'm 6'2" and could barely get in the third row. I needed to be pulled by the hand to get out. My knees were almost level with my eyes while seated.
My wife is 5'1" and could get in and out but still found it difficult. You are not getting child seats back there either. Third row seating in the X5 is a marketing ploy and that's it. Don't waste your money. Get some other options instead. |
The 2nd row can be reclined, only if you have 3rd row seats, right?

I have a novel idea - maybe instead of the 3rd row seat, they could fit a full-size spare under the floor.
