Bmw Decides To Order Me (another) E70 Without Asking Me
First of all, :wtf: .
Let me explain. Several weeks ago, I built the E70 I wanted online and sent it to two BMW dealers near my area. I indicated I would like to talk about my configured vehicle first. One of the dealers responded and got the process going for me, and I never heard from the other. "Your loss" I though. So, fast forward to yesterday, when, after talking about, ordering, and completing the process with the E70 from dealer "1", dealer "2" randomly leaves me a message saying my car is ordered, and this is the production number. :yikes: :wtf: :dunno: I was stunned. Did I not ask about three weeks ago to contact me about getting the process started? Did I ask you to order me a $54,000 car? The person from Dealer "2" is faxing me some info over ( a little late!) and I will call them later this evening. The thing is, even though dealer "2" decided to take a stupid shortcut, dealer "1" still has my order sitting in their dealership because they have topped out their allotment for the time period. Perhaps I can change dealers? Or at least get a discount from dealer "1" for being slow? I'll keep you posted on anything new. I'm still a little amazed.... |
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Just ignore the dealer. How can they order it when they haven't got any approval from you? :rolleyes: |
I don't think they need approval to order the vehicle. If you don't want it, they'll sell it to someone else...
|
Yea, I thought about that.
It's a pretty normal equipment setup, so why not just order it anyways? |
Oh, and one more thing, I'm trying to upload a new avatar, but it won't let me. I think it is because it is too big. I resized it correctly, but it's not under 19.5 kb or whatever. How is it possible to get to 19.5? I could only get to 32 kb on 3rd party websites.
;ot: i know |
are you sure they put in an order specifically for you? you didn't ask them to or put down a deposit. maybe they had an allocation that was exactly what you wanted and they tried to sell it to you.
|
I'm pretty sure it was for me.
They had a car on the lot very similar to mine, but with the 3rd row. I don't think they would order a car w/o the 3rd row just because. |
If you want "the car", and it's "ordered" as you wish, and the
price is right, why not try to blow off Stlr#1 or get him to take it through Stlr#2's delivery? Also, if your order is pretty normal, it could be just a smooth pitch by Stlr #2 to come in and sign the deal...that "order" they are pitching may have gone out to a dozen E70 tire kickers, including you. They sell it, to someone, sooner or later. I smell a catchy car sales technique. GL on either "order" and your new X5. BR,mD |
Yes, if the price is better than #1 I will blow them off.
But still, about what, 80% e70s have 3rd row? I would think it might sit for awhile because I think a lot of x5 are ordered with it. |

to even find that kind of stat. Fred MeLoan's monthly sales stats don't give that detail and I doubt BMW will break it out, unless they want to, for some mkting purpose. The car has been on sale about "20 minutes"...I doubt 80% have checked off Third Row on their order sheet. |

I heard that BMW pressured Dealers to order the third seat on all units that they were taking into stock. BMW seems to be trying to make a point about having seating for 5 plus 2 verrrry small people.
|
I agree, I can't see any reason to get that third row....if you need a third row you need a bigger vehicle.
|
My dealer has X5's without third row. When talking to him no pressure about ordering one with third row.
|
Maybe it's like this: The dealer had an allocation for sold orders only. Without the order, the dealer may not have been able to get a unit for their lot. This is common when a manufacturer can't meet demand. Even though a dealer may have allocation, the manufacturer will not build and ship a vehicle unless it is a sold unit. In this way the manufacturer gets more vehicles on the road (as opposed to dealers lots) leading hopefully to more exposure of the new model and more sales.

Only anecdotal, and no freakin' arm wrestle;
The "two" I've seen, at Stlr last weekend, didn't have the 3rd shelf, er..."row". If I was buying one and the Stlr urged me to get it, I'd urge him to find another customer. It's the equivalent of the 150 gallon Jacuzzi bathtub we all have, that no one has ever been in,imo. Stlr trip & assorted pics: http://http://www.xoutpost.com/lounge...trip-stlr.html |
order it without second and third row seats and put a hot tub in the back...;)
they sit 10 right? :rofl::rofl::rofl: |
