Living without Adaptive Drive
I hear so many fantastic reviews about Adaptive Drive so I have a question for people about what it is like without it. Have I missed a major technological advance in the new car if I don't get it or is this just some more electronics that I'll have to take back to get fixed in 3 years time?
Is the handling and ride acceptable? Is it really worth optioning up for? In Australia it is an $8,700 option so it is a big decision. Thanks |

With all the shifting problems on the 2006, I wish I could turn it off.

Yes I was referring to the suspension stabilization. The option prices are a killer in Oz!

That really sucks. You should drive both anyhow just to see the difference - and let us know!!!

I've driven the normal version, and didn't desire anything more.

I guess you can't miss what you haven't had...

whether its worth the options, that depends on how you like to drive, if you always carry your kids around or drive really slowly, i dont think it would make too much difference, it makes more difference if you like driving around corners quickly and things..
p.s im from sydney too currently in boston. which x5 are you getting. it use a LOT of gas and you know how much gas cost so unless you need the space. you might want to think about a new 335 or something. i have a 4.8i and im getting about 3Km/L. i only got it for a day and got stuck in traffic a few times so i think it should be able to get 6km/L after some highway run but that translates to very expensive gas bill in sydney |
I'm thinking about the 3.0TDV6. With a sunroof, comfort seats and head up display it costs about $115,000 (on road).
Petrol here is about 1.20 per litre for Diesel and about 1.10 for premium unleaded so that it makes it definitely worth going for the diesel. The 335i is a great car but i need a bit more space to fit the kids in and travel out to the inlaws farm. Agonising over the X5 vs the RRS at the moment. |
