hey everyone.. im new on the board. just picked up my 4.8i today. black on black... i was really lucky. i went to the dealer yesterday, apparently someone just cancelled a hour ago so i got it..full options.. just wanna say its a GREAT car.. cant wait until the break in is over and really test the car.. but so far.. breaks are GREAT.. the handling is great.. personally i would say it handles like a 3 series. ill upload pics after i take some which will prob be sometime tonight.. the car is AWESOME

anyways. happy to join you guys

330i2X5 01-25-2007 09:34 PM

:xoutpost:

congrats on the new X! can't wait to see pictures!

jcreed 01-25-2007 09:52 PM

thanks.. one thing i dont like about the new x5 is that the bonnet is no longer metal.. apparently its now fiberglass or something which means you could no longer wax it like you would b4 as the waxing would get too hot and might warp the bonnet... i dont know how true that is.but thats what my dealer told me..

Denalio 01-25-2007 10:02 PM

Aluminum hood.

Wpcmac 01-25-2007 10:09 PM

:welcome: aboard, this is a great group of people.

jcreed 01-25-2007 10:29 PM

if anyone want a review. here are a few things i noticed about the car
1.. the camera is useless at night.. i can barely see anything on the camera at night.. the one on my lexus is much better
2.. x5 feels much bigger then the previous generation, realised this while i was trying to park
3.. the headup display works great, however you cant have it positioned too high on the glass because you cant see it if its where another car's back lights
4... the handling is great. i drove around corners quite quickly, and the car barely moved sideways at all.. i do have the sports option so i have the active suspension too so that might have made some difference
5.. the break works great..
6.. the car dont accelerate much until you get to 2000rpm and then the car accelerate really well

well thats what i ve noticed so far.. so yeah.. im goin to take pics tonight. if anyone have any requests post it up and i will take them too

330i2X5 01-25-2007 10:47 PM

Photo requests:

2nd row from front seats and also from side.
If you have 3rd row then the 2nd row fully reclined and max distance for legroom.

Otherwise anything else is pleasing to the eye :)

Sweet!
Is that the Bamboo trim ?
Have you tried out the active ventilation yet ... what are your opinions?
And (sorry more questions) do you have adaptive suspension ?

Enjoy the Miles!

PersonaNonGrata 01-26-2007 04:43 AM

Congrats and :welcome: . Nice ride for sure!

As for whoever you talked to about the hood thing at your dealer, don't ever take advice from that person. :tsk:

2007-x5 01-26-2007 07:11 AM

your x5 is very nice, congrats! hey would you mind telling me what was the msrp of your x5? and did you buy it or lease it?

trueX5er 01-26-2007 09:10 AM

Big easy that is Bamboo. Looks great. I second the vote for several second row pics.

Boston X5 4.4 01-26-2007 09:49 AM

Congrats fellow Bostonian....the cah looks wicked awesome

Denalio 01-26-2007 10:14 AM

Jcreed,

Congrats! Being in Boston you guy's get some snow. Do you have a set of snows? I can't find anything that will fit here in Canada.

Xtacy 01-26-2007 10:18 AM

Wicked Aewsome......Echo that...fellow Bostonian....

jcreed 01-26-2007 11:14 AM

thanks everyone.
answers to the questions,
-msrp was 73000ish.
- vent seats are ok.. better then the mercedes one however i still dont feel too much air flow.. i think the point of it is really for summer that the seat dont warm up because its definately not enough to cool you
- i have adaptive suspension.. its great because the car really handles like a sports car and not a suv..
- i also have active seats.. which is the seats pumps up and down which is supposedly to reduce fatigue.. im not sure how effective it is
- i dont have any snow tires.. i have 20inch rim on performance tires.. there isnt any snow this year so i prob wouldnt get any and also my car was leased so no point investing that much into a leased car

and opinion. i already posted some of things i noticed earlier. if there is anything specific you would like to know please ask because there really is a lot to talk about and i dont know what you guys wanted to know

and more pics will be posted soon.. and i will take some pics form the 2nd row to give you guys some idea of the leg room.. any other requests please post them

and thanks fellow bostonians

LeMansX5 01-26-2007 11:32 AM

Congrats! You can wax the hood just like rest of car. No fiber /warp issue. Don't listen to $tealer. One of my cars has aluminium hood and I have zaino'ed it several times. I heard BMW has realized the backup-cam-night-vision isuue and will address soon.

Denalio 01-26-2007 11:39 AM

LeMansX5,

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but how do you like the Zaino on your X5? I use it on my Denali (black) and hope it does just as good of a job on the BMW paint (Saphire Black). Which product(s) do you use?

Sevaral here have used Zaino with good results. Z5 is good for dark colors. Below are steps I follow.

Dawn Wash
Don't dry car - leave it wet and then clay the car with the water still on
Regular Car Wash
Polish
Z2 Pro with ZFX
Z5
Z6
Z2 Pro with ZFX
Use whatever remaining Z2P/ZFX solution that is left on the wheels.

Don Coffey 01-28-2007 02:53 PM

Jcreed,

Your car looks great. Can I confirm that you DO have Active Suspension as over in the UK, it is not possible to have Active Suspension with the Sports Pack. (Called the Dynamic Pack over here.)

Don

You can in Scotland, you just need to shell out a further £2300.00!

I'm curious to know how the ride is with the active suspension. I found the X5 with 20" wheels to have a harsh ride on uneven surfaces (the unit I tried didn't have Active Suspension); something I wouldn't want to live with on a day to day basis. I like the idea of active suspension and was wondering whether the suspension only comes one way or is stiffer with the active suspension + sport package.

The ideal for me would be to have a sport mode for the Active Suspension that would make the car ride like a sport pack when the "sport" mode is selected and ride more comfortably with the normal mode selected.

Did you drive a unit with Active Suspension, but without the Sport package? Did you notice a difference in the ride?

xnsf 01-29-2007 01:56 PM

:kewlpics:

How do you operate the intensity level adjustment for the heated and cooled seats? is it through i-drive? the button only seems to be an on/off switch...:dunno:

trueX5er 01-30-2007 06:47 PM

Question on the rear climate- Which controls have priority? Do the manual controls still work? Do they make a difference? What about the fan speed?
