The Trafic information are Broadcasted in Europe in the TMC signal .
Do you have TMC in Canada ?

I understand the the Nav system is capable of receiving the data but that the CRTC has not even considered it. Let's face it in Canada here are never any concerns about traffic, the most time it takes to get to work in Toronto is 3 hours. That is reasonable. Also the New Government of Canada (sounds like a communist revolution rather than a conservative party) does not care about the impact upon the environment caused by automobile emissions and greenhouse gasses.

I have RTTI in my coupe and its great to have. The traffic data is a little slow since its updated every few minutes. Its all based on road sensor data so if there are no road sensors, then you get no info. So far, it just works on major highways and roads, so more coverage would be nice (lets get with it DOT). However having RTTI makes nav a must have IMO as it will only get better as more traffic data becomes available. I almost always have the nav screen up everywhere I go (even if I don't have a destination input) so I can see potential delays. If you live in or drive thru a lot of large cities its a very valuable daily thing to have.

pseto, how easy is the nav system to operate? I was reading the manual online, and it seems pretty confusting. Any thoughts?

its easy to operate. don't listen to those who say idrive is hard to understand, they're idiots. if you can work a mouse, idrive and nav are for you. there are so many more options you can customize with idrive, so I was glad to see it standard in the x5. after 5 mins you'll know how to manuever around. there's a few things I don't like about BMW's nav (compared to aftermarket) but I can live with them b/c of idrive's flexability.

is voice control easy to use/accurate?

The voice system in a friends '04 TL is so terrible it's not worth it to use.

i played with my real time traffic info today. it displayed all the major roads (interstates) with traffic jam. where the jam is (in 15miles between exit 15-17). and also the cause of the jam (exit ramp closed). so i think its pretty good
