I am almost positive that the wiring harness on the new one is plug and play and that nothing needs to be coded. As it hooks only to the light wiring (downwind of the fuses) it shouldn't require any. But I'm not certain and have never asked anyone at BMW directly.

My hitch arrives on Monday. I'm going to have installed next Friday.

It's going to be around $1500

That's for installation including the cost of the hitch right?

Praetorian 02-02-2007 10:25 PM

Yep. Hitch and install = ~$1500 Canadian.

I'm towing my snowmobiles.

Friend with a E70 4.8 on order told me last night that the Orlando dealer wants $2k to provide and install the hitch. They told him there was alot more involved in installing one on the E70 than the one they put on his prior E53 4.4.
