OK let's clear something up. This thread is based on a review of the new X5. Part of that review stated that the outlets are switched and are off when the key is removed. I stated that OUR (this is the wifes car an e60) works the same way. The power outlets don't work with the key off.
I have a X5 and as i stated ALL the outlets work all the time key in or not so i don't need to invest in a extra battery or two. I was just agreeing that the way both vehicles are configured regarding their power outlets is in my opinion inconvienent. But thanks for the suggestion. Quote:

Hi,
frankly, I prefer when nothing works after removing the key. I suffered with the E53 preFL battery due to sat location several times so that I am very sensible with empty batteries. No starting with lights on, no TV or heating with disconnected engine and so on... Glad to read every one´s comments about handling and general quality of the E70. I am getting nervous day by day. ciao Alex |
I read the BIMMER mag writeup and noticed the gas tank is 2 gallons smaller and city mileage is 2mpg less than my 2006 X5 4.4 Sport - "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away" - There has got to be a way to lighten up this vehicle while maintaining strength and protection to give better mileage
I also see they no longer offer the 4.4 engine, which I think best matched this vehicle - JMHO - bummer |
