Comfort/Sports Seats

I notice that in US if you have Sports and Premium Package you get the Sports seats....

In canada the brochure lists " Sports seats replaced with Comfort Seats when ordered with Premium Package"....

Can anyone confirm this???

Sorry, but got a little anxious seeing some pics about this..

Correct. In Canada if you order that combination you get comfort seat.

Yes, you do, I suspect that for an extra fee they could swap the seats for sports, but the SP/PP configuration is comfort seats. (in fact it is what I have ordered) .

As I recall there was a thread that questionned the name comfort seats - are the other seats uncomfortable?

Wow...

...when I saw all the Canadian X5'ers posting here, I didn't want to miss the bus...or is that SUV?

I also ordered an X5 3.0si with the sports and premium packages. At least on the BMW build your own site, when you make those package selections, you have the additional option to substitute sport seats for the comfort seats at no additional charge.

Having said that, what is everyone's opinions on the comfort seats actual level of comfort? I have an 04 M3 with sport seats, and quite honestly, when I tried the comfort seats on the X5 tester here, I was quite impressed with the ability to really dial in the side bolsters and the lumbar. It had been awhile since I had power lumbar and side bolsters and the fit for me was excellent.

I think the regular seats are good, but after hearing what people say about the comfort, they must be great!

xnsf 02-04-2007 08:15 PM

they adjust in whichever way you want

I had had comfort seats on a 540 and an E53, they were excellent. However they have been updated with the little wing things on the headrest. I tried them at the local dealer before I ordered and they seemed even better. Only a few road trips will tell - a run up to Circuit Mont Tremblant perhaps.

What are the diferences between the comfort and sport seats? I ordered a 3.0 with comfort seats and I am thinking about adding the sports package which include the sports seats. With both options there is no price break so I am thinking about deleting the comfort seats.

xnsf 02-05-2007 02:19 AM

the comfort seats incorporate every adjustment the sport seats has and then some. the sport seats are firmer and have larger side bolsters

having both (2001 X Sport w/sport seats & 2006 X5 Sport w/comfort seats) I find both to be comfortable (even on long trips, 2000+miles) - I selected the comfort seats in my 2006 because I thought they would be better sitting in east coast traffic (they are) - but the sport seats are great if you like taking turns hard and give you a better bucket seat feel - It all depends on how you like to drive

Just received my X5...the Comfort seats are awesome. Actually I have the active ventelated seats and these things are simply amazing. If you only get one option, this is the one to get. They even have a massage action built in.

xnsf 02-09-2007 12:00 AM

i'm guessing the passenger doesn't get the massage...

does the passenger seat have memory?

jcreed 02-09-2007 12:29 AM

the massage action is the active seat option
