Hitch instructions

Can anyone direct me to or email me the installation instructions for the hitch kit. We took delivery of the car and kit yesterday but they failed to include the instructions, there is a label on the hitch box telling the tech or salesperson to print the instructions and provide them to the customer.

If not no problem, I'll call the dealership tomorrow...just hoping to avoid it.

By the way, the E70 hitch kit has fewer parts than the E53, just one giant hunk of steel that weighs about 70 pounds.

Unfortunately the pdf doesn't include how to remove the bumper so I'm trying to track down any info that will help with that.

Also, the instructions refer to "retrofit coding" on page 12, it looks like I may need to take it back to the dealer to get this done. ugh.

it looks like they took the official suggested time and doubled it! which may be appropriate or not, who knows.

maybe it's their first time doing it...? :dunno:

so they're calling more mechanics to see how it's installed...i'm guessing. it was a popular accessory on the E53s

Install for the E53 was 225 minutes per the instructions, and only 150 minutes for the E70.

Looking thru both install pdfs it looks like the E70 install was planned for much better than the E53, fewer parts, fewer steps...the mufflers and shields don't need to be removed, don't need to go into the spare wheel well and the wiring seems easier to route.

Are you planning to install the hitch yourself and then have the dealer do the recoding? The directions say to recode before restarting the engine. That's one way to foil do-it-yourselfers.

Yep, I'll install and schedule a recode and hope they don't jack me too much. I bet it has something to do with the backup camera and the hitch view feature? Or maybe since the taillamps went to LED?

I'll report back.

If you could take pictures along the way as you do the installation that would be great. This looks like the kind of job I might prefer to do myself, just to make sure it's done right, and if you could document your pioneering efforts it would be much appreciated. I'm sure there are others here on the board who would like to see your installation as well.
