I cant fit back there to figure it out. I'll send my shortest child when I get home and see if she can fit.

Thanks v much for the pictures very helpful. Indeed can't imagine anybody but small kids fitting there...I am not even sure a booster seat would fit...
Dissappointing on thh seat belts I thought the lower anchor point could be realeased and the whole belt would go back into the C pillar. Otherwise, isn't it a major pain with the luggage cover?
Had the impression the whole belt could be store away as per attached..

Good find.
In the manual it shows how to remove the belt from the c pillar and engage them next to the seat, but there is no instructions on how to remove the belt again to restore back to this position. I cannot figure out how to remove the belt from the seat.

But it looks like this is possible and the belt can be stored in the pillar when 3rd row is not used. Thanks for this find.

Now, if someone can figure out where the release button is.

yes, it is dark burl. I would have prefered bamboo but I had a hard enough time finding a X5 in stock that had the options I wanted.
