Comfort Access ...Glitch?
The Comfort Access on my new 4.8 seems a bit quirky. Sometimes it seems to work intermitently. When I try to open the door sometimes it does not work. I pull my FOB out of my pocket and hold it and will work or sometimes jiggle it a little to get it to work. Doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen quite frequently. I have also experienced a message on the NAv screen that says "remote contol not in the vehicle or may be malfunctioning". Anyone experience the same thing? What's going on? $1000.00 option !!:confused:Could my batteries need replacing after just 1 week? bad FOB?

have you charged it in the key slot yet?
|
The CA fob does not charge in the slot. The battery is replaceable. I would call the dealer, mine works perfectly.
|
try your other key and you will know if its your key or your car
|
I've been so disappointed with my Corvette comfort access system that I will never order it again. The hassle of trying to accesss any vehiche once the system fails overcomes the convience. $1000 for this perdiciment opportunity? I don't think so...

Mine works fine!
If you can recreate the problem... Tell the dealer and see if they can replace the remote. BTW... does the other remote work OK? |

Here is BMW's description: "Comfort Access Comfort Access system offers an even greater degree of convenience: keyless access to your car. Simply carrying the remote key in a pocket allows you to unlock the doors by touching the door handle. You can also turn the engine on or off by pressing the Start/Stop button* without first inserting the remote key." |

I think this system should be standard. |
Denalio I have the same comfort access problems with my M6. I call it uncomfortable access or no access. I had it in for service four times @ two different dealers for ongoing problems. Century west in North Hollywood kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it." It works fine" Then BMW suggested I take it to Center BMW in Van Nuys. I had Found some info on M5/M6 forum and took it in for service with that info and gave it to S.A. I think it may have helped them fix problems. But i still have problems when phone is in my pocket w/ fob. BMW needs to improve this option. I can't see myself ever ordering c.a. option on future cars . I can do without it. Here is one of the faults that i took to dealer. I know it's from M5, but maybe it's the same problem with X5 http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...ccess+problems
