Hamann package for new X5 w/ 400hp

The modified car is the top-end 4.8i model that’s powered by a 355hp V8 engine in standard guise. Hamann bumps output to 400hp thanks to a free-flow exhaust system and ECU upgrade, which enables the big ute to reach 0 to 100km/h in just 6.2 seconds beating the standard car’s acceleration figure by 0.3 seconds. Top speed remains electronically limited to 250km/h.

X5 has the lowered sports suspension that sits a full 10cm lower over regular X5s and a set of Hamann 20 or 22in alloy wheels.

 Thanks for the pics. However, not really used to seeing a X5 sitting that low. Wondering whether the OEM M-sport suspension will lower the X5? Guess we may be seeing it in a day or two.

Thanks! I think it looks great other than being lowered. Lowering an SUV (or SAV) is quite contradictory to why it's made and besides it makes the X5 look like a station wagon car.

Hmm, pretty impressive....an exhaust and ECU map get 45hp out of a motor?? Usually don't hear gains like that for such small upgrades without forced induction. I'll wait to see someone do this and dyno their ride :)

I agree, I would want to see a dyno and and an independent one at that.

That looks awesome with the 5 spoke wheels

X5Jay 03-05-2007 12:13 PM

Hey, how did Hamann come up with an ECU upgrade so quickly when we haven't heard about any Hamann ECU upgrades for our '04 - '06 engines yet? Are those guys in that business? WTF!!! And what about Dinan? It's been about 3 years since they told us they'd have it in a couple of months...

Looks pretty good. Just maybe a tad too low.

Anyone know what the Torque improvement is across the rev range as I assume its here that your paying for the upgrade as 0.3sec is pretty poor in relation the the BHP increase and most importantly in relation to the probable cost of a Hamann upgrade.

kinda looks like a wagon... but i'll take those 5 spoke hamanns

Excelent Question!!
Many of these types of upgrades are mostly hype and even those that are real can be deceiving because it's where the power is added that's important. You can add peak HP/Torque, but sometimes when power is increased at or near redline you can actually lose power in the mid range which is where you want it. You want to see an independent dyno chart with before and after power curves layed on top of each other, that way you can see where the differences are.
Bottom line, research before you buy.
I'm not saying this package is not a good one just that more information is needed.

sweet

dont know bout you all, but that hamann package is designed by german engineers and not some kid on a computer playing with photoshop;) .....but man that is low, but who ever said an x5 is for offroading.....if it dont hit speed bumps, its all good, SAV remember.....! Hamann know what they doin!!

Brad_p 03-27-2007 06:07 AM

like the performance upgrade, but those wheels..... the oem wheels fits the X5 better

gl996turbo 04-02-2007 11:49 AM

45Hp gain is impossible. I gained 75HP for my Porsche Turbo with ECU, Exhaust, Divert Valve and Air intake. Remeber how easy to gain power on turbo car. I chipped my 2003 E46 M3 with dinan (paid $450+tax??) and gain nothing.

X5Fan 04-02-2007 01:29 PM

That's pretty hot! I guess if I have to ask, I can't afford it anyway I like it lowered.

noncom23 04-02-2007 03:35 PM

I think the lowering helps the e70.
Not so Lexus like with the lowering.

turboed 04-02-2007 08:45 PM

i'm pretty sure is 400hp at the motor/flywheel ,not 400 at the ground.

dr.jay 04-03-2007 11:37 AM

Looks Mean!!!

Kuwaitiano 04-04-2007 09:52 AM

looks like my 4.8is
