^ x5fx, when did they do the firmware for you last? Trying to gauge if there's a newer one out for my January build. Thx.

X5FX 07-16-2008 12:23 PM

last week, but according to the most recent SIB, 29.2 is the latest version.

I looked at all these screens. I would think that info is somethere -- just not as 29.2 though.

I see the following values on my 2008 E70 built in Oct/Nov 2007:

There's multiple screens that show OperatingSystemVersion and FunctionalSoftwareVersion but they are different values... One's for Applikation, others are for C-HOST, C-TUNER, C-ASK, C-GATEWAY, etc.

Well, if that's the software version of interest, than I have an old one in my 2008 X5 (produced Oct 2007) as my value is 007.199.001. That's probably the original -- I'm pretty sure no dealer update....

I think the first number is for the year (007 or 008), the second one could be the day in the year ?

Would the dealer update the software for free if you bring the car in and ask for it? I don't see why not, since it could fix potential software glitches and it shouldn't cost them anything. Or must you have problems to get the update?

X5FX 07-17-2008 12:10 PM

29.2 = E070-08-05-520

Typically dealers do not like to do things for free if they (1) tie up a service bay for a while, (2) requires a paid technician to do it, and (3) ties up an expensive BMW piece of equiment so that it cannot be used on another vehicle.

I looked back at all the data and could not locate anything like this.
