chris24 03-13-2007 07:58 PM

Wish we could get that interior color in the US. Has anyone in the US gotten an X5 from Canada to do so?

330i2X5 03-13-2007 08:32 PM

Thankyou all for your appreciation....
Its dam hard to see your car get dirty though...especially with such a nice interior....

I hope you guys in the US get the option eventually ( maybe 2008 model ) to get the 2 tone leather....esp with issues with Tobacco colour etc.

Blue Mountain Raider 03-13-2007 10:07 PM

The white looks great too though, with the sport package especially (shadow line trim) and black interior, great contrast.

LeMansX5 03-14-2007 09:27 AM

Looks good and camel interior is great.

PeteM 03-14-2007 02:35 PM

Great Pics I really like that interior contrast!

Is n't your steering wheel from the 4.8i IE, with the chrome insert, is that an option in one of the packages for your 3.0is?

chris24 03-14-2007 02:46 PM

i think that steering wheel comes with sport package.. in US at least.

330i2X5 03-14-2007 04:10 PM

yes it does come with the Sports package on both models.....!
The pictures dont really do justice to the colour of the Camel..they appear lighter than they are...and so its not as easy to dirty...I think it or even saddle brown would be great choices....come to think of it, I havent seen any X5 with Saddle Brown interior yet??

More importantly is acceleration. Don't floor it at all for those 1300 miles. Go very easy on the tires and brakes for the first 350 mi. Don't go over 85-90 mph in the 500-1000 mi, too.

PatX 03-14-2007 08:23 PM

Great pics! Good Contrast! Just a quick Question...

On the Sport models that I test drove, there was a button labelled "SPORT" just to the rear of the shifter. Is it there in your pics, but we just can't see it?

I ordered sport as well, and am really curious to see how it feels on a daily basis. My current E53 did not have sport. On my short test drive, I really didn't feel the big difference with the button on or off, but I'm hoping that overall the ride will be better than the non-sport.

X5FX 03-14-2007 08:36 PM

odd, I dont see it in his photos either. Mine looks like this:

imo- the ride feels better w/ sport turned off (on sport model) compared w/ non-sport vehicle...maybe its just my imagination. I can tell the difference between sport/non-sport mode- there is a distinct change in ride.

PatX 03-14-2007 08:52 PM

Since we are looking at the shifter...

I have developed a habit of resting my hand on the shifter of my 2004 (ok - no jokes - it's just comfortable). I'm worried that if I do that with this new-fangled shifter, I might accidentally change gears or go into park.

Are acciedntal movements (as long as you are not in MS shift mode) locked out?

Oh, and by the way, my E53 has woodgrain on it. In the 2007 X5 Accessory book, they show a wood overlay shifter for $195. Can you believe that???

X5FX 03-14-2007 08:58 PM

I drive with my hand on the shifter too.

no you cant accidently shift into the wrong gear, the software wont let you.

330i2X5 03-14-2007 09:12 PM

In canada the adaptive drive is a separate option/package.
It does not come with the Sports Package as in the US, therefore we dont get the Sport button by the shifter :(

The ride and handling however with the stiffened suspension is awesome...at the same time not rough.....Ive heard good things though about the adaptive drive when its engaged....very smooth !

X5FX 03-14-2007 09:19 PM

so as far as ride and suspension goes, your sport package is the same as our model w/o sport?

chris24 03-14-2007 10:26 PM

can anyone clarify the difference between what I've been told are 3 options for a 4.8i with sport package (thus with adaptive drive):

1. Regular mode
2. "sport mode" - when you put shifter to left position, but do not manually shift it (just slap it to the left and leave it alone)
3. the "Sport" button....

I was told the sport button allows extra air into the engine for increased performance, but have not been able to find any documentation to say what exactly it is for..

If you order the sport package and adaptive drive you do get the "sport" button in Canada.
