X5 4.8i vs. Touareg V8

For those who compare X5 with Touareg, here's a good review:

BODY (includ. 9 subcategories): Winner: BMW
TRAVELLING COMFORT (includ. 8 subcategories): Winner: BMW
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION (includ. 8 subcategories): Winner: BMW
DRIVING DYNAMICS (includ. 8 subcategories): Winner: BMW
ENVIRONMENTAL/COSTS (includ. 9 subcategories): Winner: VW

RESULT:
Old BMW X5 the VOLKSWAGEN Touareg was equal already. The new, within all ranges improved Bavarian leaves for 2007 the only revised VOLKSWAGEN Touareg in the test clear behind itself. The body BMW is more largely, the safety equipment more extensively, the processing a trace better, the comfort altogether more convincingly, the drive more spritziger and the driving dynamics clearly more balanced.

The Touareg is not a loser nevertheless. Primarily the size growth of its competitors and their performance on the road makes for it to create. Off fastened ways it sits down however fast to the point. Fascinatingly the two grummelnden V8-Motoren von X5 and Touareg are however less - their consumption.

Total: 4 to 1 for BMW X5

Fantastic translation :D jk

The Touareg was #2 on the list behind the E70.

I drove one in 2003, a V6, an it had almost no power. Slooowwww. And the V8 had very high comsumption, so I went with the X5!

Just look at how cluttered the VW dash is compared to the X5.

One thing turned me off about the Touareg ( among other things) was the green windows in the back and the way the rear seats needed to be in the way when everything else was flat. And yes even the 8 cylinder was slow imho.

Hell, the Touareg lost in earlier comparisons to the old E53 4.4. Not a big shocker it loses again.

:iagree: The whole interior of the Touareg has a VERY cluttered feel compared to the X5. It stresses me out just looking at it!

Also, the buzz around our city is that Touareg's are NOT reliable and have lots of "issues" but I don't have the facts to back that up.

VWs in general aren't reliable. The Touareg is no exception. I've read many complaints about the T, my uncle had an awful Passat a couple years back, and my teacher has a Golf that he likes cuz he has a software chip that gives him more power, but the rattles and leaks annoy him. He recently had to tear out the headliner just to fix a sunroof leak.

My dad is on his second and loves it. He had the first model year ('04 I think), a V8. He just got a V10 diesel. I know other members here had nightmares with the Touareg but dad has only had minor issues.

I was surprised at the pick up on the diesel. I know it's a V10 but I assumed the diesels were slow off the line but had the pulling power.

The rear seat is very uncomfortable. It's like a bench, very straight, rigid back, no support or cushioning whatsoever. I've never sat in my beackseat but it does look alot more comfortable
