Exactly. Once you have seen and used it, there's no going back.

The HUD has more than paid for itself this week on my Toronto trip. While driving through downtown traffic, I was able follow the nav without having to look down at the screen. True that voice prompts help but seeing the name of the street infront of my eyes gives me a better point of reference. While traffic is much better than NYC or Boston, the unfamiliar surroundings plus cars, trucks, buses, pedestrians and street cars made it a bad idea to look down.

Just outside of the city, the HUD probably saved me from a speeding ticket. I was able to drop my speed in an area that is known for speed traps. I slowed from 80km/h to 60km/h just as a police traffic detail appeared waving speeders to the side of the road. Those two seconds it would have taken to look down, make the mental calculation from english to metric, and then slowdown would have led to me joining the half dozen other motorists by the side of the road. Incidently, one guy who slowed down too late "pretended" not to see the OPP officer waving him over. His attempt to run was short lived.
