i think there is something wrong with my x5 ... the first day i had the car the exhaust sounded loud ( growl...) i had it for 2 days, and then i noticed the exhaust sounded really weak ( just like lexus lx and mercedes ml ) and the next day i tried reviving it and the growl came back... and today it sounds really weak... can anyone please tell me why it is like this, and what should i do... does anyone have this problem?

I have no clue, honestly it does not make sense. I would suggest you bring it back to your dealer and let him see the problem.

the dealer has no idea about the car.. they told me they are waiting to see any other complaints about the car... they dont have any availabilty of the x5 and the demand here is very high... they told me that they still didnt test the x5... can you believe that

Are you saying they're incapable of servicing the car they sold you? I'd say find a new dealer to work with. That's nonsense.

Ouch. I guess you'll just have to hope for the best then and do as much research as you can on forums like these and wherever else. I'm sure they'll figure things out, they're still a BMW dealership, so they should have access to those answers. Seems odd that they can't get in a database and get some support from other dealerships or the manufacturer themselves.

i just found out why it changes the car sound.... when you put the gear on (N) and revive it the car will growl... and when in (p) the car will sound like a lexus............................................. .................................................. ....... try it ... and tell me if its the same with you ...

I didn't realize you were talking about the car while at a standstill... I wouldn't worry about that, I think that's normally the case. I haven't gotten my X5 yet, but I'll try that on my FX and see if there's a difference. Pretty sure that's normal of all cars. If it sounds different while driving, that might be more indicative of a potential problem. But I'm far from a mechanic..
