Maybe they did not realize at BMW how anxious we are to get all the info...

Just been to dealer to spec up the Msport.

There was an update on the 11th on the Msport options although the configurator is not up yet the car can be spec'ed up on the BMW IVS system.

The configurator will be up and running at the end of the month along with a dealer issue brochure with pics.

The 4.8i Msport will be available in late September with a build of August, cant remember the week numbers.

The 3.0d and 3.0is will have a build start in quarter 4 and will be a 08 model so should have BER and IAC (LeMans). Also the dealer had heard a BiTurbo diesel should roll in for build Q1 08.

The options on the system were:

M sport Colour coded restyled front and rear bumpers, extended wheel arches, door sills and body mouldings. Running boards are not offered but there is an enlarged running sill in matt aluminium.

19 inch V spoke 223 Wheels or option of 20 inch V spoke 227 M10/11J

High gloss line roof rails with option of Matt Aluminium roof rails.

Brushed aluminium trim, interior or the other trim options on the SE.

Matt aluminium window trim.

Sports suspension (not adjustable) or alternative cost option for Adaptive drive.

Msport steering wheel but the system did not offer heated.

No cost option for Carbon Black, as well as the other colours. (No pearl silver)

The bulletin mentioned that there would be several other interior differences/extras to the SE but did not specify.

OTR £53,995.00p for 4.8i MSport N62.

The 3.0d/is has some improvements that we already know Nevada leather, sports seats electrically adjustable etc.

Generally it is as posted before but with a few minor changes.

Dealer is going to forward the bulletin when it comes in at the end of the month including the pics.

I appreciate that most of this is known but I thought it would be worth giving the update.

I also have the DAB radio and USB connection and auto tailgate now available.

Thanks,

He mentioned that the Bi-Turbo Diesel is planned to be out for end Q1 08 build. Previously a few of the employees went to a BMW briefing where they played with a number of cars. Their 'guide' told them the plan was to use the 335 Bi-turbo engine towards the end of 08, this was subject to final sign off by BMW. It was there they also got a glimpse of the 1 series coupe with a 335 engine in it apparently it was hush hush and no pics were allowed.

Sorry but thats as much as I have been told.

LeMans is the best guy to ask...

That's interesting. Sounds like the M SPort bodykit is going to be quite different...front bumpers all bodt colour with maybe the wheelarches the same. Now that's got me thinking. Can you remember what the other colours were too?

So the M version will just be a styling package with no performance upgrades??? Where is the 500HP engine??? Where are the Brembo brakes??

I sure hope this is not just wishful thinking because I want my X5 with the above. While I love the looks of the current E70, there are a few things I'm not crazy about - the cheap looking unpainted plastic parts. The M-Package discribed would fix ALL of this for me.

If this is a real package, the next question I have is: Will it be available in the US?

Thanks for all the info so far:thumbup:

Assuming you are a real person then my understanding is historically the MSport is not an option in the US. The info I have from the dealer issued by BMW is for UK only. I dont know about Europe generally or the US. What I read on the bulletin didnt mention other markets.

The colours were, as I remember, Space grey, Black Sapphire, titanium silver, monaco blue, and maybe one or two others from the SE range. Plus Carbon Black.

On my options printout it doesnt mention the colours as I just have my choice Space grey.

Just for interest

The option code for the M Sport is - ZXP3

The Wheels are - 2M9 - Style 227 M 10/11Jx20

Aluminium Roof rails are -3MA

Ask your dealer to see the X5 Bulletin for 11th May which is the latest with the update due end of month. Or ask to list options on his IVS.

M Version is not an M Sport, historically in the UK the MSport is a styling option with limited performance spec maybe things like Sports suspension lowered, improved discs or the like sometimes a small retune. It is purely a sporty look, try looking on BMW UK configurator to see the M Sport styling across the range. My understanding is the MSport was first created for the UK market across the BMW range, it may now of spread to Europe across the range, I am not sure.

But it is not an M Version as we understand it, I think Le mans said this may well come with the X6.
