Self-levelling Suspension & Pneumatic Air
 

Hi, I have ordered a new X5 with self-levelling suspension & pneumatic air. Because these option are only available from May 07 production onwards I cannot find out what the maxium ride height will be. The dealer does not know and there is nothing in the X5 manual. Does anyone know if it will have a button for "Off Road" Touring & Sports. Or will the height have to be programed into the car by the dealer.

Also on the International BMW Website states the following:-

The perfectly-spaced gear ratios of the responsive six-speed transmission system ensure that the vast power of the BMW X5 engine is transmitted to the drive wheels with maximum efficiency. For a manual-transmission driving experience, simply activate Steptronic mode: gear shifts can then be controlled by keys on the steering wheel. Whatever your style, the six-speed transmission system is ready to respond.


Has anyone looked at puting this steering wheel on there X5 E70 which has keys on the wheel to change gears on it or will you be able to put the M3 steering wheel on it like people had done with the old model X5.

Regerattably, the option you describe does not offer any driver adjustable ride heights.

So on the old X5 E53 the air suspension lifted the height but what you are saying is this keeps the height at the standard height?

Do we know what that standard height is?

Would it be a little higher than an X5 with sports suspension?

Has anyone measured the clearence difference between a standard X5 & one with sports suspension?

Also does it drop down from the standard height when you push the "sports" mode button just behind the gear lever? because this suspension replaces the sports suspension or does it just ride at the sports suspension height all the time.

The manual tells you nothing about the suspension and how it can be used.

The dealers here don't know because no X5 have arrived in Australia yet with this suspension.
