2007 navigation glitch in x5?
Hey all, I am the proud owner of a new x5. It is wonderful, except my navigation system does not pop up a close-up map when approaching a turn. (It did it a couple times, but stopped) I know it's supposed to do this because my hubbie has a new 328xi whose nav works perfectly. I really just have to guess which street to turn on based on the giant map. I've reported the problem and even took the car in. They said "yes, it's not working right" we'll call you... Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if/how it was resolved. I just moved to a new state and my navigation system will be a lifesaver. It sucks that my little bros honda civic's $400 nav works a million times better than mine!

Just to clarify, if you have the arrow on the small screen should you still get the close up map on the main screen when approaching a turn?

The map in the main window stays at the same zoom level. In the secondary (small) window, an arrow (no map background) will pop up telling you where to turn, and the distance.

I thought I might need a software update already. |
I'm not sure what you mean now. So, I'll describe how I typically have my screen set.
In the main window (left side, larger), I have the navigation map show all of the time---regardless of whether or not I am actually using guidance. I have the zoom level at 800 feet. On the right side of the screen, I have the information about the car (MPG, avg. speed, etc.) When I start guidance, I keep this setup. The difference, however, is the main screen (zoom level still at what I had it set at--800 feet) shows a line on the route I should be taking. (A depiction of the path to take.) In the right side, I still have the information about the car. When I am approaching a turn, the right side of the screen will be replaced with an arrow telling me where to turn, and the distance. The main screen, however, will not change; I still have my map set at 800 feet. After I make the turn, and assuming there isn't another immediate turn, the right side of the screen once again shows the information about the car. Joel |

Thanks, just one question. If you do not set up the arrow on the small screen do you get the close up view on the main screen when approaching a turn. |
