post pics of e70 key
was wondering if anyone could post some pics of their e70 key.
does the e70 have the same electronic key system thing as mercedes? thanks! |
Here's a pic of the key that i tried to shrink to actual size, but came out just a bit smaller when i posted it here... but this is close to actual size and it also is not very thick, probably about 1/2 an inch. The E70 does have the "Comfort Access" option that allows you to keep the key in your pocket and lock/unlock doors and start the engine without taking it out.

Yes. That Mercedes key is cooler looking with the chrome though... but yes, the key slides out if you need it (if battery is dead or you want to use it as a valet key) by pushing a button, very small sliver of a key comes out... but it doesn't pop-out like the audi/vw keys that you have to flip out and put in the ignition. even without the comfort access, you don't have to take the key out, but you do have to pop the key pad in the ignition. with comfort access, you only have to put it in the ignition to charge the battery, otherwise stays in your pocket, bag, etc..

Dealer told me putting it in the ignition charges it when I picked up the car (not the first time a BMW salesman has been wrong). I thought I'd heard the same thing on here at some point... but looks like that's only for the standard key without comfort access..

With comfort access you have to replace the battery in the fob.
