dont worry, this is a place to share issues...if I had to do it all again, I would buy the exact same X5...I LOVE MINE!

Im sure this a a programming issue that can be resolved.

Have any of the posters with poor airflow issues had a resolution yet? How are the e70's holding up to 100+ summer heat? Living in Texas the a/c can become the most important part of a vehicle other than moving you from point a to b.

I have come to the conclusion that if you live in a hot environment (me) you can NOT use the "auto" setting.

I have been using the "MAX" setting and then lowering the fan manually as needed as it starts cooling down. This method works very well.

Since this is a $70,000 vehicle, maybe BMW assumes we would can afford to hire an "ac girl" to sit in the passenger seat and operate the ac for us as we drive. If you are a female owner you could hire an "ac boy".

I would hope BMW would address this thru software or even hardware recalls... it's unacceptable to have a non-functional Auto mode on a $70K+ anything.. I'll be the first to get on the phone and bitch if mine acts this way.

whats the matter, you dont want an ac girl?

I get enough of that on my Siagon lay overs.. I just want my car in the US to work as advertised and sold.

I'm known for my tenacious follow up too! :angryfire

:iagree: a/c girl would be a nice option... So that means I have to have the ventilated seat package... does that come with an upgraded a/c girl? :nanana: pitty no tobacco interior. Thanks guys, the options I want so far push a 3.0 around 62k and I want to make sure it is the right car since I will need to keep it awhile to justify the expense.

MD11F 07-09-2007 10:27 PM

I nixed the ventilated seats so I could get the tobacco interior.. I mean BMW really put some of us in a tough spot with the limited interior colors for the US market, and now this. I don't know why we couldn't get the saddle leather interior color AND the ventilated seats together.

X5FX 07-09-2007 11:05 PM

my ac girl came in tobacco

Only a BMW would inspire 40 posts about how to work the a/c. BMW a/c's have always sucked, IMHO. Newer ones just suck less than the older ones. I'm still disappointed, though, to hear that the E70 isn't better.

I remember an automotive HVAC engineer once describing how BMW and MB both use a different system than everyone else. He wasn't sure why they did it that way, but he explained that it did cause their a/c's to be louder and less efficient than the US and Japanese manufacturers. And that's certainly been my experience too.
