Speed over 80MPH

I am wondering if it's ok to go high speed (80mph+) on a windy day?
Because when i test drove the car it pull off if i go high speed.

"it pull off" yeah what car we're u driving a yugo?

AzNMpower32 06-29-2007 11:33 AM

Um 80mph isn't fast at all. In fact, its the minimum speed for the left lane in California.

aalreziza 06-29-2007 04:56 PM

80mph+ I mean 80 mph and more.

I would hope that the e70 can do more than 80 b/c I know first hand that the e53 is extremely smooth in speeds excess of 140 mph

I mean by pull off = pull more.

It should be fairly stable at speeds up to the 130mph speed limiter. Gusty crosswinds may affect high speed stability of any vehicle, and given the X5's fairly good aerodynamics and 5000lb mass, it's perfectly fine to go as fast as you wish.

*Always obey posted speed limits and regulations. Always wear a seat belt. It is the driver's sole responsibility to decide an appropriate vehicle speed depending on traffic and environmental conditions.

I was driving around 95mph and The car seems to pull more as I go faster.
Is it normal?

Ahhhhhhhhhh. what?

X5FX 06-29-2007 05:40 PM

I would not drive on a windy day over 40 mph, unless its the first tuesday in the month. The only exception is today, if its windy you can driver over 80 to get your iPhone.

ahhhhhh

yes the X5 does not handle windy days very well...yes I too experienced this. On a windy day you can feel the X5 pulling at speeds over about 75-80 mph.

Should I slow done or keep going? on the same speed around 95mph?

Did you not read my all-important, law-suit-proof disclaimer? It is the driver's responsibility to operate his/her vehicle in a responsible manner. Use your judgement.

I am not sure if the orginal poster is asking about cross buffeting of winds or torque response and gearing at higher speeds.

I have no issue with either. I have no tracking issues and when speeding up the tranmission drops down a gear and off I go.

X5FX 06-29-2007 06:26 PM

thats up to you...there is no problem, just harder to handle

oh..you mean pulling from left to right. Sometimes the higher profile does act like a sail in stiff crosswinds.

The CHP might tolerate 75...might. But 80, it's a certain ticket. Although the #1 lane is known as the fast lane, even the CHP has it's limits.
