Rear Seat Comfort
I just tried two cars back to back, one with the third row seating option. The seats in the car without the third row os seating are A LOT more comfortable. I was toying with the third row as I thought there may be times in the future where they may come in handy but that has put me right off.

your right , without the third row is more comfortable .... by the way i always get compliments about how comfortable the back seats are ...

Do the back seats WITHOUT the 3rd row option still recline?

What do you need the 3rd row for anyway? :dunno:

Also, the 3rd row seat option gives you the same max legroom as without the option, only it ADDS recline which for me makes them a no brainer. |
I think the comfort of the 2nd row seats is quite a bit worse then the previous model

We got our E70 with the third row of seats, because we have three kids (10, 7 and 6) and have to split them up so they don't fight! I've sat in the rear seats and they are fine - not as good as our comfort seats in the front, but not at all "uncomfy". If you are buying a car to transport four adults, then don't get the third row, and the rear passenger adults will appreciate it. If the main reason is to transport a family of 2 adults and 3 (or more) young kids, get the 3rd row. Personally, I am always either going to be driving, or the front passenger, so anybody sat in the back (middle or 3rd row) can watch a DVD and shut up, or get out and walk!!

I opted out of the third row as my kids are too big for it. They found the E53 backseat to be really uncomfortable. While not quite a sedan, the rear seat is a big improvement. Both the seats and the suspension contribute to the level of comfort.
