Key memory profile problem
I have a comfort access option. My wife got out of the car the other day and couldn't close the car neither by touching nor the remote. She was able to close it with the key though. When she came back she had to open the car with the key again and had to insert the key into the slot.
When we got home, I tried using it again and it seem to have worked but it lost all of our settings. Futher, it seems that now settings don't react to a particular key - they are the same no matter which key is used to access the car. Also, the mirror position is not remembered either, which I assume is related. If anybody know how to reboot or reset the system, I'd appreciate it. |
Try using the search feature with the words "key memory" I got this in 3 seconds. http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ght=key+memory

BMW is aware of problems with the comfort access. There is a software update in the works. I just got my vehicle back from the dealer and that was one of the things they looked at. Mine works intermittantly. The dealer said that it has something to do with the vehicle's "sleep mode". Ask your dealer about updates. Here in Canada it will not be available until late this year.
