Australian Readers - Caltex Premium diesel ?
Noticed Caltex Premium diesel the other day while filling up my petrol car ? It was around the same price as premium unleaded ? Anyone tried it or is it worth it ?
Thanks |

Make sure you check the parts per million of sulpfur, you have to use low sulphur diesel in the X5. Last time I checked BP was the best, then Shell, I currently pay $116.9 per litre for BP here in Brisbane. |
Thanks.. still waiting for my car.. I ditched the hitch.. it was too expensive and as the dealer explained looked "very agricultural", I'll wait and hope they come up with a better option like the european hitch...!!

Can you use bio-diesel in the X5 ?

On the fuel filler there is a sticker saying no bio-diesel, but you would get away with a blend. The caltex bio-diesel comes in two flavours 2% & 5% bio-diesel, either would be ok as they are ultra low sulphur like 5 parts per million whereas the BP I think is 50 parts that I use. You just cannot use pure bio-diesel, also the Caltex bio-diesel is hard to get. By the year 2009 all Oil Companies have to produce 0 parts per million of sulphur which is like the Caltex 5% bio-diesel. Normal old diesel is like 500,000 parts, then Shell brought low sulphur which was 500 parts, BP then brought out their low sulphur at 50 parts. Caltex's low sulphur is also 50 parts but there bio-diesel is only 5 parts. |
BP look like they are rolling out a 10ppm diesel as well !!!

Yeh, on Friday they are going to put the new control arms on my X5, said it will take most of the day because they have to disable Adaptive Drive & Active Steer. It then takes them a couple of hours to re-activate it after the wheel alignment is done. Heres hoping it fixes the problem. I drove up to the beach house at full tide last weekend through 20cm of powdery beach sand and was suprised, I could just drive along 2000 revs, the e70 handled the beach 100% better than the old e53 did? |
