Fuse panel for Cig. Lighter

I cannot find the fuse for the front console Cigarette Lighter. It is not listed in the rear fuse panel. Any ideas where the second fuse panel is or which fuse is for the front cig lighter?

I feel your pain

I've checked the entire dash and as far as I can see, there's no fusebox up front in the 3.0si. The manual lists one under the passenger side, but all I can find is a panel for a connector (OBDII?).

Ok, found the second fuse box right where its suppose to be.
It is in the front passenger footwell. You have to remove the panel, there are 3 screws. Under this there is a fuse block with one green screw, twist and the panel hinges down.

two questions:
1. where is the guide to which fuse is what???
2. How do they expect you to get to the fuses in the far back. Look at the first photo...there are several fuses way back there in the dark. There is no way to grasp these fuses.

Check out page 14 here: http://www.xoutpost.com/pdf/e70/03a_E...0and%20Bus.pdf

Says the panel with the fuses is removable.

Can't find any details on what fuse is for what, but will keep looking.

Did you find the fuse for the cig lighter?

OK this is driving me nuts! I have both fuse panels (trunk and passenger footwell ) open, am looking at the fuse legend pamphlet that is included in the back fuse panel and nowhere does it mention the cig lighter fuse. Where is the cigarrete lighter fuse, please someone help us.

Hi X5FX, let us know what you find out. BTW, I spent Labor Day morning trying to set up my Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector. I am trying to mount the detector via the passenger seat footwell but have the detector mounted near the dash instead of at the top of the windshield. I am going to use a fuse tap that I used on my Touareg, Radio Shack, p/n 270-1218 and just plug into a fuse in the footwell. The cig lighter fuse would be ideal, but I experimented with all the front fuses,i.e. easiest ones to get to at front, all 30 amp except one 20amp fuse. They all were constantly live even with car totally switched off and locked. I tried the 20amp fuse and there was just no juice even with engine running which seemed strange. That 20 amp fuse is the rear windshield wiper fuse. I would have thought it would work.

This is the first Beemer I have bought and I must say I am a bit suprised as to the lack of info in the users manual. I know we only pay for tires and gas for the first four years, but we are not all retards and this is after all the, "Ulitmate Driving Machine," meant for enthusiasts. Why can't they give us the info!!!!

please post a pic of the radar detector placement

I thought about using a fuse tap on one of the front fuses then thought better. I have a V1 Mounted up near the mirror. The power cord is tucked just behind the headliner, then down the passenger side A pillar, tucked into the trim so it's not visible. It then goes under the dash and is plugged into the cig lighter. Nothing visible except where it plugs into the lighter. Not the best install but nothing permanent and nothing that the dealer could say would void the warrant. That's my biggest concern, have some expensive electrical problem and the dealer say the radar detector wiring caused it.
