Hi to all,

I also have the comfort entering or keyless go. First, avoid to open the car with both keys in range of the sensors, this might "confuse" the silicon brains a bit. The key itsself has no memory at all for this settings, they are in the cars central electric. This electric recognizes the key (no. 1 or 2) when you open the door or press the open button on the key and restores the saved settings. To get all settings changed you have to activate some functions in the iDrive setup menu (that you press the iDrive) und menu point car / wheels (I hope it´s named like that in USa, mines a german one). If you go through the options you may activate or deactivate the seat function and choose if it will change upon you open the drivers door or earlier when the car is unsecured.
The passengers seat won´t change position at all. The key to be used may be somewhere in the car not in the slot, and even there is no memory selected for the seat it will go back to the last seat position used with this key...
By the way, the memory selcet 1 or 2 are for each key. so yo have 4 positions to save...

Sorry for the not matching English, I´m an Bavarian guy trying to do my best.

Enjoy your X5 as I do

So long

Christian

this thread has been very helpful for me at least to figure out this feature. Thanks all for sharing your research on it.

One quick question to anyone who might know. My wife lost her key the 1st day we brought the car home! So I bought a new one and it's on the way now. Will the car recognize the new key? Does it have the ability to store 3 keys? or will I need to delete my prefs first and then re-do it with the new key?

The key has to "cleared" for the car an will be adopted. And you better delete the lost key from the car, you never know...
And of course you will have to renew all settings again
Best Regards
