X5 Delivery ETA

I just ordered an X5 3.0 which is expected to go into production by week 34. For those who have placed orders, any ideas on how long the wait is approximately from the time production starts. I was told, it could possibly be bumped up to begin in earlier week.

Thanks
J

It's only a few days from the start of production until completion. I have seen a vehicle show up at the dealer (we are VERY close the plant where I live, so take this into consideration) in less than a week after start of production was shown be starting.

They Seem to be Moving Quickly!

I ordered my X5 six days ago and was told my production week would be 33. Today I am seeing the "scheduled for production" announcement online, and a call to the automated number indicated a projected finish to production by 13 Aug. This was the first day of the projected week 34 production time. So looks to me they are running as much as a week early...

That's pretty quick. The dealer seemed to indicate a 6 to 8 week spread. I would be happy to get it soon as well. What's your configuration?

X5 Configuration

Titanium Silver, gray interior, premium package, comfort seats, heat seats, nav, rear sunshades, and iPod/USB.....

i am thinking of adding the technology package but am in two minds if it is worth going for the GPS or just buy one externally, given that I will only need the GPS on weekends/long trips out of LA. Any thoughts?

Do it! I just drove a non-tech package X5 as a loaner, and just the smaller idrive screen alone looks out of place in the dash, much less that the tech package adds Nav, back up camera, and such..

I ordered a Space Gray 4.8i on July 17, just checked on BMW's website and my car is "en route"!!! Can't wait.

Ordered: Space gray/gray, technology, sport, cold package, premium package, rear climate, rear heat, ipod, comfort access, side shades and running boards.

That was my original intent too (as well as to buy a space gray model with tobacco interior until my wife spoke up). I think if one hasn't been a user of a built-in nav system previously (you and I?), then the portable version would be acceptable. If like my wife you are used to having a permanent nav system onboard, then it's a kind of a "must" to have the built-in model. And I agree with MD11F that the built-in screen being larger than the standard non-nav version can make a big difference in looks and visibility!

However I don't think that either the park distance control or what i gather is a poorly done rear camera are worth it. Maybe just get the nav alone?
