Window Tinting Recommendation??

I made the mistake of not getting the rear climate package which resulted in me not having tinted rear windows. I would like to get them done by a local tint shop but I understand that certain tint types interfere with radio and GPS reception. Does anyone have any insight that they can pass along? Any installer recommendations in CT?

Thanks much...

I didnt get rear climate package either, does this result in none of the windows being tinted?

Yes, if you didnt get rear climate package your windows will not be tinted. I am getting mine tinted tomorrow. I choose FormulaOne (www.formulaone.com) and opted out for pinnacle tint, kinda expensive but looks really nice plus they do not interfere with gps/sat signals. Getting 15% in the rear, I believe factory is 20%.

there's also a new 3M carbon tint out now that I used on my e92 and I really like it. It doesnt interfere with GPS or any reception which is why I got it.

I agree to both posts, 3M and formula one makes great films and the specs are available at their website. I have rear climate with tinted windows but I still tint them anyway. I normally get 5% tint in the rear and 10% in the front. I live in SoCal and it gets pretty hot where I live in the summer time, besides, we can get away with really dark tinted windows here in L.A. Not sure about tinting laws in other states. I suggest going to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website in your area (if available) to find a reputable auto tinting company. It's one thing to get good film but installation is another story. Good luck.

Hey Guys,

I'm not a big fan of Formula One. Recently, we chose Formula One for our car b/c we heard so much about it. After a horrible tint job by a authorized dealer, I contacted the company that makes it and they could care less. They offered absolutely no support and sent me in circles. Personally, I would not use Formula One for my cars again in the future.

You need to apply a Ceramic tint in order not to interfere with the electronics. I have Formula One and am very happy with it. make sure you get a good installer.

Do alot of tinting places carry ceramic tint, or is something I would need to order and have them install?

Most places should carry them. Formula One, Llumar, Huper Optik all make ceramic film.
