aux jack in center console
 

the car i test drove had an auxillary jack in the centrer armrest console. can this be somehow connected to my ipod?

yes, although you cannot control the ipod from the idrive nor will it charge the ipod.

then what does everyone else have? and what wire do i use to connect the aux jack to my ipod?

The car comes standard with the aux jack and you can use get a stereo plug from Radio Shack. The 6FL Ipod Adaptor is a $400 dollar option. It plugs your Ipod via USB and it will charge it and you can control the Ipod on the Idrive screen
