AC Vent Issue / SIB 64-07-07
 

My vents were randomly switching between main dash vents and front window defrost vents when AC was running - dealer analyzed and referenced SIB above, water from AC was leaking around stepper motor and wiring (behind glove box). Replaced stepper motor and wiring, ordered air ducting to prevent further damage.

Not 100% sure but from the discussion I had sounds like some actually leaked enough that it dripped on the passenger floor mat, sounded like that was the initial report. Mine did not do that, but leaked enough to damage wires and motor. Production date of January of 07.

That is actually what happens to mine. No matter how you adjust the I drive setting air came through the defrost. Next time you got in it was the center vents. Build date was Feb 07. I have not taken it in yet as it still got cool.

Anyone on this post have a different cause to this issue? I'll be taking the mentioned issue to the shop, but was curious if there has been any other causes.
