Changing Options after Order?

Can you add or delete options once your order has been submitted and a production number assigned?
I'm currently scheduled for a week 40 build and I don't want to risk loosing that spot.
Dealer indicated that its locked and loaded at this point and changing would be difficult.
Was thinking about deleting cold weather package add adding the 20" wheels.

I could be wrong, but I believe week 40 production begins next week, so it may indeed be too late. Try to make your changes TODAY a.s.a.p.!

But what you are saying does not make any sense, if BMW changes options around, how can anyone order the car properly.
Say for example, I want to have a sunroof and all other options of premium package including Bluetooth, etc. How should I be ordering it.
at this time using information on this forum, we know that Sunroof and Bluetooth is no longer part of Premium package. What should Premium cost and how would these options have to be chosen otherwise (separately or they might now be standard)?
I think dealers at BMW has alot of work ahead of them for this weekend. Once they will know the pricing and options, they will have to reconfirm things with their customers before or even as production starts.
BMW is really cutting things close.

Locked = No Changes

Once it is locked.... it is LOCKED!

They plan everything based on the options and do not want people to keep changing their options.

People could change at the last minute or every other day. This would get the sales advisor a little ticked.

As I understand it, and if your dealer is willing to, you can change your order 1 or 2 days (max) after you order goes to status 112. You typically have 4 days or so until you hit 150 from 112.

Again, as I understand it from my previous experience with BMW, is as follows:

111 – Order Accepted by BMW AG, lasts about one to three weeks
112 – Scheduled for Production, VIN assigned and viewable on website
150 – Production Started

Status Meaning
0 Order deleted by NA
17 Order not Specified
37 Order is at BMW NA
87 Production Week Assigned
97 Order sent to AG
100 Order deleted by AG
101 Error in data transmitted
102 Special Order (no Prod Week)
105 Order out of Prod. Period
111 Order Accepted at AG
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
168 AG Stock
170 Waiting Workshop
172 Planned for Workshop
174 Workshop Entry
176 Workshop Complete
180 Waiting for Export Dispatch
181 Waiting for Domestic Dispatch
182 AG Load No. -- Released to Carrier
190 Dispatched ex(port?) BMW AG
191 Returned to BMW AG
193 Arrived at Port of Exit
194 Selected for Shipment
195 Shipped from Port of Exit
196 Shipment Arrival -- ATA

i changed my order and it was after a week of putting it in.
the change was very minimal though so that may have been why they were able to do it.
i pretty much had everything i wanted but forgot to add the ipod integration.
they were able to add it when i remembered.

they called out and then waited a day to get an answer. needless to say they were able to put it in.

got the vehicle in 4 wks from date of original order.

Not sure about that, I received my build sheet on the 14th, with a status of 112. However, to my knowledge 08 production hasn't started yet, so I think it's probably still in 112.

It has been done before at 112, but it has to be just as the car goes 112 and the dealer is willing to get it done for you. This case is a little different as we are talking about the start of a production run not knowing what the option list really is.

Week 40 (next week) begins the '08 production as I understand it for the '08s. If that is the case, there has to be production scheduled, and thus a load of X5s at status 112.

111 is the safe and sure bet though, no doubt.

KEF

Thanks for all the feedbaqck - I just figured that since the 08 Production hasn't even started that I could still change.

Dealer basically stated that BMW uses the order to forecast parts, colors and options. I'm sure anything can be done but frankly its not that big a deal. I guess I had some remorse after seeing a 4.8 with the 20"s in person. Either way I know I will be happy!
