2008 Production started!

We were scheduled for our 2008 x5 to be built the first week of production, which we were told was next week. I called our dealer to see if I could add one more option and was told that production had started early, our car had already been built and was now in the paint area! She said that the premium package for the 3.0 still includes the sunroof, it's just that they now also have a code for it as a seperate item, so it's been confusing people. She said the packages, etc. are the same as 2007 but they still don't have the pricing yet. I thought those of you in the same boat as us would want to know what she told me.

Seems like you have not checked other threads on 2008 X5 in this forum regarding the options and packages. There are some changes for 4.8i. Which X5 did you order?

The other threads are actually why I posted, I am curious to see if what my dealer said is correct. We ordered the 3.0 with the premium package.

I just called BMW to check the status of my 08 - according to the automated voice system my vehicle is in production with an estimated completion of 10/5/

Online tracking still has it "on order".

It is funny that they start the 08 production without updating the customers of the new options available (unless new options such as soft close doors and M sport pack are not available elsewhere except Europe).

^ I'm surprised people order them without knowing about potential price changes to potential option / package changes in the first place. If your rep says everything will be the same as '07, then I can see it... but I personally wouldn't trust them until they have their hands on the info.

When I took delivery of my 2004 X5 at Spartanburg I took the factory tour and the paint queue is at the beginning of the process.

my dealer told me that my 2008 would arrive at the end of october or august production .. but i have a question .. does he mean that i will have the 2008 model in which no new options are added or the 2008 model in which the new options have been added ? i ordered a 4.8 btw with sports package and full full full options , everything u can imagine of except the 3rd row seats and the rear TV ..

is it possible that they'll build my car and ship it to the middle east before november ? thats if i get the 2008 with new options ..

That's correct, I took the tour of the Spartansburg factory when I did the 6 series performance driving clinic (so cool and a must for anyone who has the opportunity) and the paint process is at the beginning , not the end.
