this is bar far, one of the dumbest modifications i've seen done to the X5. the rear lights now appear 'dirty' ... but MORE importantly... why would you want the lights to be DIMMER than they normally are??? I for one, want my lights to be as visible as possible for safety reasons.

I think you gotta black is out all the way or not at all. I can't recall a car I've seen with smoked tail lights that I liked, but I definitely like the standard X5 tail lights. The headlights are another thing though...

I blacked out mine all the way and I get a lot of looks and compliment but I have a black car which is a different case since the colors blend. I think you can only get away with it with dark colored cars. I've seen light colored cars with blacked out tail lights and they don't look as good, IMO.

Yeah I don't think blacked out lights would look good on any car, but maybe a black car can get away with it. However, the slighty smoked lights complement the space grey (or any color I would imagine) VERY well.

The pictures I took do no justice. It looks cleaner than stock after the clear, gloss coat and more sporty. I absolutely love it and some friends decided to do the same to their cars after seeing mine in person.

As far as safety, you'd have to be legally blind to not see the car or lights. Mercedes actually does this to their high-end cars stock... check out the ML63 with stock tail lights on the bottom of this post.

A bit too paranoid about safety issues? http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...tml#post252790 I guess one can never be too concerned, but c'mon...
