Mtec Fogs on when they shouldn't be?

It's finally starting to get dark enough here in Norther California that the headlights come on. While driving in today I noticed that one of my fog lights was on when it wasn't suppose to be. It seems to be a random occurrence. I turned off the car (since I was in a parking spor already) and turned the car back on and the fog light went out. Anyone else experience this? Is it a bad bulb?

TIA.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is due to the adaptive fog lights. Each side will come on when you turn the steering wheel into that direction. You must have parked with the steering wheel turned either left or right. Pretty cool feature for the E70.

Really? So the fog lights switch on and off while driving? Even when you haven't explicitly turned on the fog lights? One would think this would be kind of distracting to on coming drivers.

Yes, it comes on when you turn the wheel to either direction. The dealer did a demo on it when I picked up the car and I thought it's pretty cool. I think it only comes on when your headlights are on also. Not sure about distraction to oncoming traffic since the foglights are pointed to the ground.

shouldn't they both come on at night...and turn into the direction of your turn??

wtf?

Only if you manually turn them on. If you don't manually turn on the fogs, then it would only light up one at a time per turn on either direction.

cool!

Thnx all for your responses. A quick search on the web says that the cornering lights only come on during low cornering speeds. :driver:

I had noticed that also when the car was in the garage on start up. Maybe the wheel was turned? I was not a big thing and I just made a mental note of it. With darker days the I aprreciate the lights and my brakes must be worlds above most of the other SUVs out there.

yep. noticed this in my rearview mirror when my wife was following me home from the dealership (she was driving the X5). I want to change my fogs to MTECs also, how long did this take you? It's still pretty hot in houston and if it's a long job, I'll wait for it to cool a bit before doing it.
