trading in 2002 x5 for new x5. is this a fair value??
need a couple quick opinions... what's a fair value on a 2002 X5 4.4 with sport package, 19" wheels, FULLY loaded... with 105,000 miles.
Best offer on trade in i've got so far is $16,500 but that feels low to me. any thoughts? need to make decision today. thanks. |
I went to three dealers, for a 2001 X5 with every option except navigation and sport seats, 98,500 miles, newer michelins, very good condition.
One dealer offered 15,700, second offered 12,500, third (the one I ordered from) offered 16,500. It definately helps to have the car very clean before you show it to them, I think. I gave them the car in the middle of September, before the new car arrived. It's tough with higher mileage, because most buyers will shy away from it...they will probably send it to auction. |
Definately shop around, for my 06 one dealer tryed to cheat me out of $7,000 so there is an example.

Marc...keep shopping around my friend. Even with that mileage that's too low.
If you are ordering a 08...you can execute the trade once yours arrives. In the meantime, try to sell it.........Phil |

Hard to tell - need to take into account what discount you negotiated on the new X compared with MSRP. $16,5 would be very low for retail/p party - but it is a trade, and a 7yr old with 105K is going straight to auction (no CPO/used mark-up in this case for dealer). Unless another member here has access to recent auction comps for North East, Galves is your best bet to get an accurate estimate http://www.galves.com/index.asp Good luck (PS stay away from Herb Chambers) |
thanks. i've currently been offered 500 above invoice on a new 2008, plus dealer accessories at cost. plus this as a trade in... but i can sell on my own before if i need. i think this is a fair deal overall... just working on finishing details now.

I am not in the market but from the other posts I have seen here $500 over invoice seems like a very good deal for an '08 and makes the $16.5 a little more bearable.
You could always post the deal/trade-in etc. over in bimmerfest in the 'ask a dealer forum' - some decent feedback there also. Agree with previous poster - most money will always be by private sale but that can come with its own share of headaches. |
Boston x5... check your private messages. thanks.

You are not going to get KBBB 'excellent' trade in for a 7yrd old with over 100k AND buy a new at $ 500 over invoice unless there are dealer holdbacks that you don't knowabout or it is a slow selling model overflowing the lot. (the 'AND' is the important part ;) ) |
