Comments on Production Status
I thought I'd share my production status evolution with you guys to illustrate something interesting regarding the BMW OC website and the 800 number.
Here is how my order has progressed so far: End of week 43, production begins 10/13/07 - Ordered 10/13/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/14/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/15/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/16/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/17/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/18/07 - Status 112 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet 10/19/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/20/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 Website changes from X3 to X5 website shows VIN 10/21/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/22/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/23/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/24/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/25/07 - Status 150 - In Production, Estimated completion date is: October 30th 2007 10/26/07 - Status 151 - In the Body Shop, Estimated completion date of: October 29th 2007 10/27/07 - Status 152 - In the Paint Shop, Estimated completion date of: October 29th 2007 10/28/07 - Status 152 - In the Paint Shop, Estimated completion date of: October 29th 2007 10/29/07 - Status 152 - In the Paint Shop, Estimated completion date of: October 29th 2007 So here is where it gets interesting - typically once you go 152 the vehicle typically runs very quickly through something like this: 10/27/01 Status 152 Paint Shop Started 10/28/01 Status 153 Assembly Started 10/28/01 Status 155 Production Completed 10/28/01 Status 160 Released to Distribution For whatever reason, the automated system never updated to any status beyond 152, and still to this minute says "in the paint shop", the web site is still in "scheduled for production". My salesman contacted me shortly ago to tell me the X5 was on a carrier to NJ and if things go as planned, I can get it realistically pick it up next Wednesday. I though that went rather quick. Cheers, KEF |
my x5 was scheduled for priduction in august and it just arrived at the dealer last night ..
i was told to come in 3 days to pick it up as they are fitting my aero kit and changing my rims .. |
KEF... My car might be on that same truck. I'm picking mine up in Jersey on Thursday, it will be here Wednesday night but after hours. I ordered Oct. 6. I checked the web site like everyday and it skipped "awaiting transport" and "en route" and went right to the "processing center" or whatever is just before "at the dealer". I'm actually glad it was so slow because now I feel like I'm getting it sooner!
