How your X5 is Manufactured

I have had this link for a while and never got around to posting it - if this is old news, I apologize.

Anyway, you can take a rather interesting virtual tour of the manufacturing process of the X5, to see a little bit of how these are made.

Enjoy,
KEF

I was looking for that, thanks!

i wanted to schedule a tour and pickup but I heard they cancelled tours till early next year!!

does anyone know for sure??

It is my understanding that they are 'retoolin' the factory for X6 production and there are no tours during this time. If I can find a link to the press release I'll post it to confirm.

Yep, tours were closed when they were retooling for the E70 too.

Wow cool video. I guess that puts an end to break-in disucssions. Your new car has already been on the track and run at 85mph before they connect the ODO.

I believe all that is done with the ODO connected, that is probably why the cars arrive with 5-10 miles on them...

very impressive

if i ran a dealer i would give out CDs of that to everyone who comes in the door.

the only part i didn't like was the "8 minute hurricane bath" it goes through before it is released to distribution...

somehow i keep thinking about that small leak that seeps into the electrical wiring and forming rust or shorting things out...

may not happen right away but it can cause problems later on...

don't think you'll know till it's too late!!
