Performance delivery questions
Need advise
My X is due to be completed by about 6th of November, called 1-888-345-4269 to schedule it and was told to call the dealer. The dealer states that everything is booked and next available date is for December 2nd How can that be? how can people schedule their pickup if they dont know for sure when the vehicle will be ready. Would like to visit performance center, but not willing to wait an extra month. Anyone has any experience with Performance Center? |
Do a search. Many members have done performance center delivery and have raved about it. Can you pick it up from the dealer and then make the trip to the performance center in December?

Performance Center delivery is a two-day expereince that only has limited slots.
Once you get down to Spartanburg, they pick you up at the airport and your free journey begins. Your stay at the hotel, meals, trasportation to the Performance Center, factory tour, Driving Class and track time - all free. It's very much worth it if you can wait. Then, you get to take delivery of your new baby in a custom delivery room and drive it right out the front door and back home  . I plan to do it again! |
Thanks for the reply, I am aware of what that is, whats involved on my part and the benefit of doing the delivery there. I dont know the logistics, somehow scheduling through the dealer is not working out. Waiting is not a great option since I have a baby and currently drive around with part of a stroller in my front seat.... (currently drive e46)
How much ahead of time did you plan your PC delivery? Who did you plan it with, Dealer or the 800 number on BMW site? Quote:

My dealer got the wheels rolling for me about 12 weeks out. I then received a packet of information in the mail that told me my delivery date and all the instructions on what to do. I simply complied.
One thing you can do is try to speak with one of the delivery specialists at the Performance Center. I don't know how successful you'll be; but it's worth a try. In 2005 I had Fred Valdez as my delivery guy. He did an excellent job and you may be able to reach his desk if you simply call the Perf. Center operator. He me be able to arrange a better date for you or at least get you on a waiting list for a cancellation. This is Fred: http://www.edbmw.com/photos/displayi...?album=5&pos=4 Quote:

Remember - its not just X5's ...but practically any BMW. Further...I don't think it's "really" free. The $775 we pay for D&D is what covers it in my opinion. Since, they don't need to truck/rail the vehicle, it saves them on shipping costs which equates to the cost of you coming and getting it.

I agree that it is a fabulous experience. I took delivery there in July,2004 and will take delivery there next Tuesday - 2008 X5 3.0si, alpine white, black interior (same as my 2004)premium,tech,sport,rear climate and 6FL. Fred Valdez was my delivery specialist in 2004 and was incredible. He has to be as knowledgable on the X5 as anyone. But, alas, he has moved on up the BMW ladder in Atlanta. Anyone who can afford the airfare and a few days off should definitely take advantage of the experience.
On top of being fun and being treated like royalty you get to experience a BMW equipped like the car you will be driving off in the afternoon. I dont know about most but I dont plan to take my new X5 and slam on the brakes at 60 mph. As they tell you before you get on the track: NYC (Not Your Car). And finally, when the specialist delivers your vehicle in a specialized you feel like a 10 yr old at Christmas! ENJOY :bmw: |
