3.0sd allocation question.

I have been waiting for an allocation for a 3.0sd. Has anyone been allocated one yet? My dealer gets their allocations tomorrow, hopefully I get one. This is to be the replacement for my 3.0d which the dealer cant fix.

Any idea when they first go into build?

My dad has one on order but still dont have a allocation of our 3.0sd but it is still quoted for end of december.

jimsaq 10-31-2007 05:46 PM

depends on your country beefy
australia's first 3.0sd builds are november, mine is january I was told yesterday

Fredo 10-31-2007 06:09 PM

Mine goes into production next week, week 45. I know in the UK there are significant allocation problems for the 3.0sd as there has been much higher demand than anticipapted for it (I am sure this is partly because it is not much more expensive than the 3.0d). I did read somewhere that only 15% of diesels were going to be sd's.

I am very lucky to have my allocation as I haven't had the order in for long. Lucklily I have an excellent relationship with my dealer as I have been dealing with the same guy for 12 years and he's now Head of Sales. He actually told me not to order a 3.0d back in April before the X5 was launched in the UK as he had been told then that the Efficeint Dynamics upgrade was coming. Customer loyalty does pay every now and again:thumbup:

drod 10-31-2007 09:53 PM

man i'm jealous... i don't think we'll get sd till late 08...

wouldn't mind paying the extra bucks for it!!

sucks!!!

dwarfer 11-01-2007 04:55 AM

Fredo,
My SD is week 45 and dealer has confirmed its been built so I think their ahead of schedule. Also managed to get it with the auto tailgate :)

Now to wait another month for it to be shipped :(

Ah so mine may be early too  I have the auto tailgate too. Went a bit mad on the options list. I was oing to wait for mine until after Christmas but if it's early I think I will take it a soon as it arrives. Did you get the M Sport or SE ? I have gone for the SE with Dynamics Pack....first BMW I have had that isn't an M Sport or M /// since I bought my first BMW. Just don't think the M Sport looks that much better and justifies the price.

jimsaq 11-01-2007 05:44 AM

hey fredo, was the auto tailgate option something your salesman was able to select in his ordering system, or did you just ask them to make sure it got put in for the build?

dealers here in australia can't add it in yet, but they are pretty sure it's coming soon

dwarfer 11-01-2007 06:00 AM

My salesman added it through the ordering system. I specced the car about three weeks ago, it had literally just been added at that stage.

jimsaq 11-01-2007 06:02 AM

thanks mate

Beefy 11-01-2007 05:38 PM

some of you fellows are lucky. My dealer has no respect for getting back to me and following things up. if I am not given an allocation tomorrow i am going to take it up with BMW South Africa.. after all i have been driving the current 3.0d for six months and the oil leak has not been repaired after 7 attempts. I must say i am really pissed off with the shoddy service I am being given. The allocation for my replacement should have been last month,,,,nothing but excuses. I am almost at the stage of looking at another model. BMW are really frustrating me,,,,aargh.

janisX5 11-02-2007 05:42 PM

3,0 sd

3,0 sd must be really good, I was going to change my 3,0d to 3,0sd but now I will wait for X6. Why dwarfer did not ordered comfort seats??? I hope in 2008 BMW will catch out bugs from adaptive drive...

Fredo 11-03-2007 08:12 AM

The spec I have ordered for my sd is as follows

Space Grey
Black Nevada Leather
Dynamic Pack
Media Pack
20" Y Spoke Style 214 wheels
Comfort Seats
Comfort Access
Steering Wheel Heating
Reversing Assist Camera
Graduated Tinted Windscreen
Panaormaic Glass Sunroof
Side Blinds
Floor Mats
Auto-Dim Int +Ext Mirror
Front Seat Heating
Brushed Aluminium Trim
Third Row Seating
Xenon Headlights
Adaptive Headlights
High Beam Assistant
Front passenger airbag deactivation
DAB digital radio
Hi-Fi Sys Prof DSP
USB/audio interface
Sun Protection Glass
Soft Close Doors
Auto Tailgate
Ski Bag
Luggage Net

Got a bit carried away...decided I didn't want HUD or Adaptive drive. I was tempted by the latter but the car was getting expensive enough as it was!

janisX5 11-03-2007 08:29 AM

Nice! Seems really good!!

dwarfer 11-03-2007 03:04 PM

Thanks quite a nice spec Fredo. Realised my posed spec was an older one as I ended up also having HUD. I probably would have gone for Comfort seats but I had to stop somewere and adaptive drive really drove the price up.
Now my dealer has put a spanner in the works by telling me he will give me £870 buy back on my 20" wheels as I showed an intrest in some 21" ones.

Fredo 11-03-2007 04:39 PM

Unusual for dealers to offer a buy back on wheels....they must have a need/home for them I reckon ?

Adaptive drive is bloody expensive! I thought about it for a long time but just didn't see that we'd really get the use out of it as we live in London. Not like we will be throwing the car around corners a lot and the regular car handles very well. Decided on spending the money on some creature comforts instead. I think we will keep this car for a long time so I didn't want to regret not ordering something...that will allow me to get something fun a year or two.

dwarfer 11-03-2007 05:58 PM

I totally agree.
I live in the country and do a 10mile drive down windy roads every day so it was a must for me. I don't think i could go back to driving in the city!

AidenL 11-06-2007 02:49 PM

I'm being told April for an Sd here ..........

Fredo 11-06-2007 05:02 PM

My dealer has just had his demo arrive....must be getting the first customer cars soon. Dealer also told me that my car has been built but is not expected before week 51 ! He reckons it will be earlier though....I bloody hope so.

jimsaq 11-06-2007 05:19 PM

get a test drive and come back and give us the goss fredo :)

I have a 535d which ahs the same engine fitted. I already know what the engine can do....once you have driven one you will wonder why they still make the petrol engined cars.

jimsaq 11-06-2007 07:05 PM

that's what I like to hear =]

Abaddon 11-06-2007 08:43 PM

For my country, production starts in November and the whole Nov, Dec and Jan are sold out. Production of mine starts in February, delivery expected late March or early April.

bell407 11-07-2007 04:49 AM

There will be no X5 E70 be produced for European Market in December and first week of January roughly. They are resetting the plant in Spartanburg
for the first production of the X6...

Christian

Abaddon 11-07-2007 04:59 AM

Thanks for the info.

So mine might delay if that info of yours is correct... Damn! :(

Fredo 11-07-2007 05:18 AM

Presumably they have known about that for a while though? I think the sd allocation problems are more to do with the engine which is in short supply across the range. BMW seem to have massively under estimated demand for the sd. Not good news for those waiting but great news for residuals.

bell407 11-07-2007 05:23 AM

Hey abbadon, yours might be on time when your production is scheduled for February. This production stop for Europe is a planned one and already calculated in your production slot.
You will love your new ride my friend, I have been 3 weeks with an e70 3.0d in your lovley country this august. This car loves your coastal roads with serpentines and stuff like that...

so long

Hey, Christian! Many thanks again for the info. I was on the phone for last 30 minutes trying to reach my dealer to see what's happening and he told me he'll check and let me know within tomorrow, but thanks to you, i already know the answer, hope you're right:thumbup:

I'm glad you like my country, bro. And i'm sure you've enjojed here especially in summer. During the war in Croatia i lived in Germany for 2 years, up there in Duesseldorf and later in Rastatt, near Karlsruhe...

I'll only say: Word! :D:thumbup:

rh71 11-07-2007 03:33 PM

^ I'll tell you why... so they can keep Canadians & Americans in agony waiting for the real thing... :(

Oh and that whole diesel emissions law right now...

Beefy 11-12-2007 02:23 PM

I have finally been given a body number and it shows on the "track your vehicle site". The dealer said it goes into prodction end november however I notice on the confirmation there is a Expected RFI week 20080415 first it showed 20080229, I did change from 19"to 20'' wheels and from carbon black to saphire black today, hope that does not delay the delivery, also went for the M packagw which I saw now in Frankfurt, IT WAS AWESOME. Could change of wheels delay build? Hope not. Meanwhile I am still driving the unfixable oil leaking one I first got.
