blow off valve
Hi new to the forum, just wanted to know if anyone has fitted a blow off valve to the turbo diesel???
|
I have had a few engine tweeks done to my X, but I dont understand the term Blow off valve, can you explain, cause if I haven't then maybe I will!! and if I have I can let you know.

pretty good summary here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve
|
You can guarantee that BMW will void your engine warranty entirely if you use one.
|
Thanks for that. Its what I know as a dumper or dump valve.
|
A blow off valve goes under many different names such as dump, bypass, recirc (short for recirculation), diverter, and pop off valves. No one term is correct, the lingo just tends to change in different regions and countries. Basically these valves are all designed to the same job.
What it does: The only job a blow-off valve is supposed to perform is to relieve excess turbo pressure that results from shutting the throttle rapidly under boost conditions. |
Btw, why would you get a blow-off valve for a diesel? Would that even work..there's no throttle, other than maybe a tiny one for the egr valve. And that's only in some heavy-duty diesels.
|
these days it's job is to make the vehicle's driver feel special, and to annoy everyone else within earshot

WRX payback
just want to give those WRX drivers some of their own back.[ha.ha!]
